The message rattles through my radio and I look at it with contempt

“You just fought us. It’s your fault we’re in this situation at all. Didn’t that ‘doctor’ of yours attempt a boarding action? That’s really humanitarian stuff. We’re all banged up and @adriftfighterpilot nearly bit the big one. We don’t need your bullshit medical supplies.”

I look over and watch as my doctors rinse a pair of disposable nitrile gloves with isopropyl to reuse them. Half of the doctors are wearing surgical masks and the others are wearing respirators borrowed from the hangar team. I grab the hair on the side of my head and sit down.

Terra invicta.

“Pppppffffhhhh. Nah we’re fine. Fuck those guys we got out of dodge so quick.”

The station shudders. My radio barks to life.

“TCNS Eurphrates, we’re ready to go”

“Hit it, gentlemen”

The station begins to rumble and shake as it jumps to FTL

“I’ve got a tug-ship. We move all these bases from time-to-time to make us more of a bitch to track. The only thing that would fuck us is if we got unlucky and they really really zeroed in on killing us.”
