Unleashing Mayhem - Grae Bryan (Demon Bound, book 4)
Matteoâs been running scared for so long heâs forgotten what itâs like to feel safe. Or maybe he never knew in the first place. Raised by a cruel man, tormented by an even crueler one, and recently rescued by a demon, Mattyâs still jumping at shadows around every corner. When he sees a familiar face from the past and realizes his ghosts really have come back to haunt him, Matty does the only reasonable thing he can think of.
He summons someone even worse.
Nightmare is a solitary demon by nature. Heâs never needed a companion or a lover or a friend, and heâs never minded being feared by others of his kind. But one taste of Matteoâs sweet, terrified soul and Nightmare needs more. When heâs finally summoned to Matteoâs side, Nightmare finds himself exactly where he wants to be. Now itâs only a matter of patience, seduction, and convincing his little human that one contract isnât enough.
What they really need is an eternity.
Unleashing Mayhem is a heated MM paranormal romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger. It contains a sweet human afraid of everyone but the monster at his side, a demon so possessive even other demons run scared, a found family made of mobsters and monsters, and a summoning gone right (for once). While each book focuses on a different couple, the series is best enjoyed in order.
Of all the books, itâs fitting that Mattyâs story is the one that closes out this series. Matty is the most traumatized of our traumatized men, and with good reason. Matty has the most to be afraid of, and well. Heâs sick of being afraid. Sascha and Kai may have adopted him as one of their own, but Matty wants to stand up for himself. And he knows of the best way that He can.
Matty intentionally summons the demon that other demons run from â Nightmare. Nightmare who vows to protect and cherish Matty for all of eternity. Nightmare whom the other mated demons are wary of, who treats Matty so gently and so softly, which is exactly what he needs. And what Matty needs most to feel protected is to have the root cause of his actual nightmares eliminated. A task Nightmare is all too willing to take on.
Matty learns just how cherished he his by his new found family when they all get together (even with their trepidations about Nightmare) to ensure his safety and his security once and for all. Itâs a boost of confidence that Matty doesnât quite know what to do with yet, but is more than willing to wield like the weapon it is.
I honestly loved seeing the family of mobsters and demons come together the way they did. I loved watching Sascha, Ivan, Cooper, and Matty fight for their happy endings in their own ways. I loved watching them take the futures they thought they were inevitably dealt and flip them on their heads.
I just loved this series. I loved this series so very, very much. And along with the Vampireâs Mate series. I can see myself coming back to re-read this one over and over and over again.
