Hello everyone! After a very long hiatus I finally finished college!!! o(≧∀≦)o🎉✨ I took another 2-3 weeks to rest from my last finals, and now i'm ready to post a bunch of drawings and animations that I made in the last months. I'm going to post them during these days, so keep an eye on it! Thanks for your attention, have a nice day/night! 🥳💟
Now the circle is complete. When I met you, I was but the learner. Now I am the master.
some thoughts about today’s clip (Ep. 7, Clip 5):
the irony that this graduation coincides with the end of Ramadan, which should be peak celebration, and yet Amira is so torn down that she can’t even enjoy the accomplishment. heartbreaking really.
so much going through Amira’s head right now, with the happy photos of the Girl Squad, Lucas, and Dani. and the Girl Squad are serving looks! and obviously all the chats referring to her speech and how everyone is so excited to hear it.
Amira’s beautiful white, Moroccan Kaftan with navy embroidery. i love it so much. we had to all wear white for my high school graduation, so it’s taking me back! we were robbed of seeing more of Amira in this outfit.
the question is: where do we go from here? is there anything the school can do to make it up to Amira? at this point, i doubt it. the graduation was the big, public culmination and pinnacle of their academic lives to this point, so any gestures would seem so hollow. and maybe that’s where we leave it. that the big takeaway is that a lot of these institutions purport to be different (they let Amira wear a hijab! they hung up a Ramadan banner that one time!) but in reality, at the first sign of a challenge, they give in. it just highlights that the roots of systemic racism go very deep and can’t be ripped out via surface-level changes.
Last day at Uni! 👨🎓

I know that it’s really quite early to call this but ... 2019 might very well become one of the best years yet and I am so freakin’ excited for it.
That was the last time you ever saw me 💋
