#grades cw

I got my final grade back for the class that I was most worried about, for most of the semester I was at a borderline C-/D+, and even if I got good scores I would likely end up at a borderline C+/B-, and it turns out I got a B. Not a B- (which is a 2.7), but a solid B.

This was also the class that is important to my major and is a prereq for a capstone class later on, so it is also Very Nice not to have a C in this class (I would have passed with a C, but it wouldn’t look good to employers, professors writing recs, etc.).

Scraped it, but I got it. I got a first. I got a first!!!

Suddenly the agonising pain I was in during the exam period due to working eight hours a day and writing like a maniac seems almost worth it (though I'd still prefer to have functional hands, obvs).

Never thought this was on the cards but the past year has been all about learning to be ambitious again and apparently it's paid off.

I got exactly 70 in my dissertation (actually a lower grade than in the paper I thought I might literally fail, which is mysterious), so for those who were interested, I'm going to investigate how I might share it, but need to look at my options. Watch this space!

i am attempting to learn some complex analysis... for my own edification and, more pressingly (and perhaps more honestly) because it’s one topic that is really kicking my ass in math subject gre prep. anyway, my friend and i were just talking about this a couple weeks ago wrt how to remember the angle sum identities, so i thought it was funny that it popped up within the first few pages of this textbook (gamelin, if you’re curious)
