Getting to know oneself is a journey. For me, it is very important that we know who we really are; and our self-concept will be the beginning of it. How we perceive our physical characteristics, personality traits, and social identity will be our starting point for it will influence how we feel, think, and act in our everyday life.
As we grow old, we discover so many things about us. We are able to know our potential for growth, strengths and weaknesses, limitations, and room for improvement. With the experiences we’ve encounter, along with the changes and challenges, we are able to build and develop: the positive or negative judgement of our self or self-esteem, the value to our self or self-worth, our confidence that we can accomplish what we're doing or self-efficacy, and our different ways of thinking about our self or self-complexity.
There is still more and beyond of what we thought we already know of who we are. Not just as a human being, but also as a person, it is not only about knowing oneself, but also to accept wholeheartedly who one is.
