And the silksong spoilers tag is removed from my filtered tags because i have in fact beat the game.
Spoilers Below
Legitimately excellent in every way. A worthy follow up to Hollow Knight and then some. I'm not prepared to say I like it more than Hollow Knight because recency bias is a crazy drug but holy god.
First off, the world. Pharloom is a perfect place to go after Hallownest because of just how alive it is. It may also be in the midst of an eldritch apocalypse, but the people live on, and in some cases fight back. The areas are so distinct and vibrant and beautiful, with the Citadel taking title of my personal favorite area in both games. The NPCs breathe so much life into every corner of the world as well.
On the topic of characters, the bosses in this game are so incredibly excellent. Clockwork Dancer's (and green dancers), First Sinner, all 3 Lace fights, both Trobbios, Phantom, Fourth Chorus, Second Sentinel, Widow, and so many others are so so fun and I hope we get some kind of Godhome dlc where we can refight them without having to play the whole game again. Near the beginning I was a bit concerned the larger boss count would feel like DS2 and make the world feel a little less natural and significant but I feel that almost every boss serves a very natural purpose in the game and were all very memorable. I also like the way the fights feel more cinematic and more like duals rather than just smacking an enemy over and over until they die.
The moment when the void comes out of the trap still sticks in my mind and all of act 3 was such a punch to the gut. I remember before the game came out speculation on "oh is the abyss gonna be in this game" and most people were like "eh maybe it might it be in a sort of cameo form" but no the abyss is in fact the place from which all problems emerge and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thats a lie i wish Trobbio was the new nightmare king but I digress.
The movement is so amazing, platforming feels like the biggest step up they took in this game, I'm honestly a little sad theres no path of pain equivalent because i would've loved to just do more platforming with this extremely fun moveset.
Overall just extremely satisfied with Silksong. Not an ounce of disappointment or bad taste left in my mouth. Looking forward to the dlc, and willing to be patient given what Team Cherry was able to give us this time.
