Introducing the Find Hub network
Get help finding your lost devices and accessories. Find Hub can already help you locate your devices and accessories when they’re online. You recently received an email that your device would soon join the Find Hub network. This feature is now on, so the network can help find [name redacted]'s S24 and any compatible accessories when they’re offline. To do this, Find Hub uses the network of over a billion devices in the Android community and stores your devices’ recent locations.Android devices in the network detect nearby items using Bluetooth and securely send their locations to Find Hub. If your devices are detected, you’ll see them in the app.Help others find their lost itemsYour Android device does the same to help others find their offline devices. If you keep the default option where the network is used to locate devices in high-traffic areas only, location info sent by your device is only used if others in the network also detect the item.
Your devices’ locations are encrypted using the PIN, pattern, or password for your Android devices. They can only be seen by you and those you share your devices with in Find Hub. They are not visible to Google or used for other purposes. (I call horseshit on this bit -ed.)
To manage device participation, go to Settings > Google > All services (if tabs exist) > Find Hub > Find your offline devices.
Remember just a few years ago that Google employees were a little alarmed by the removal of the placards that said "Don't Be Evil"?
