Judge Proulx of Sudbury Upsets the Ruling of District Magistrate In Liquor Case

Sudbury, Dec, 19 — The conviction of Joe Laflamme, celebrated wolf tamer, who was sentenced by District Magistrate Thos. Stoddart at Gogama, on Sept. 17, to three months' Imprisonment on a charge of being In possession of liquor, not being a holder of an individual permit was quashed by His Honor Judge Edmond Proulx here this morning, As a seconder offender, Laflamme was not given the option of a fine. At the original trial in Gogama on Sept. 17, Laflamme was not represented by counsel but was represented G. M. Miller, K. C., at the appeal.
"If the conviction did not carry imprisonment I would be unwilling to reverse the magistrate’ decision,’ His Honor said, but he held that the evidence that the evidence was very contradictory.
