THE FITNESS (DAY 8)…Humbling moment during overhead dumbbell presses and flys tonight. I designed my lifting program several months ago taking into consideration my existing left shoulder injuries (thoracic outlet syndrome), and new right pectoral (brachial plexus) region damage from the January auto collision. I specifically wrote each day’s exercises with intention and in a specific order during the week so that each region had two to three days to fully repair and recover. Last week, I moved my rest days over and ended-up working back and biceps yesterday. Can you guess what happened during my shoulder program tonight? Yup. I could not reach my max lifts. I started feeling my lats and biceps, which support overhead presses say, “No mass, no mass.” Good thing I’ve learned (the hard way), that some days, you simply cannot go heavy or to point of failure. The good news…I learn daily that gains are as much about intuition and listening to our bodies as they are about pushing, pulling, or lifting past our perceived limits to make progress. Also, sticking to the weekly fitness protocol is critical to maximize results and avoid injury. THE FOOD: Swai (like catfish), red and white quinoa, and zucchini stir and fry.
