Not only did we never get to see Raphael react to his mentor, his family, the man who helped him get clean; being turned mortal (esp so shortly after his sister died, the parallel of his mundane family and his dw family slowly dying where so close yet so far) but we also never saw Magnus reacting to Raphael (and the others) being turned mundane. Was he happy for him? Triggered? Was his first reaction "we'll fix this again" or to celebrate? We'll never know
And speaking of getting clean: was I the only one who thought Magnus was gonna be involved in the yin fen subplot? Not just because I wanted him to be involved in every subplot, but the show very clearly set it up with him banishing drug dealers, suspecting Izzy, sharing his own (second hand) experience with drugs, Raphael all but telling Izzy to talk to Magnus since he helped him get clean etc. I really thought that would go somewhere, but Iām booboo the fool I guess Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
ughh that magnus and raphael thing. we were ROBBED. but lol of course they couldnāt put those two in a scene together because that would ruin their plans for magnus to go dark as a result of having nobody in his life but alec. so they had to ignore everyone in his life,
i would have loved to see magnusā reaction to raphael being mortal. iām sure heās happy for raphael since raphael is happy. but omg imaging the conversation where magnusā first instinct is to say that theyāll fix it and raphael has to be the one to tell him he doesnāt want it fixed. as happy as magnus is for him, he must also be grieving on the inside. raphael was in that mental category of āpeople who will be around foreverā and now heās not and you can bet magnus is already mentally preparing to lose him.
(i also wanted to see magnusā reaction to heavenly fire itself. magnus considers himself a protector of the downworld and i canāt believe heād be anything but horrified at the idea of turning people mundane against their will. not only that but i think heād be terrified for HIMSELF, though he would try to hide it. he just got his magic back and how finds out that thereās a way shadowhunters, of all people, can take it from him. i refuse to believe magnus doesnāt dig into that and dig into it hard.)
i would have loved to see magnus having a more involved role in the yin fen plot but with so many characters i can understand why he wasnāt. iām pretty sure they only threw that scene with him chasing off rufus so alec could be mad at him when he found out magnus āknew.ā what i really would have liked to see was them making up after that. instead, like most things, itās swept under the rug
