Since Thor came out one day later, on Friday, I thought I couldn't disappoint you and so I'm also publishing Saturn one day later, on Sunday (also, a certain family reunion complete with the regular private sketching lesson for my nephew might have something to do with it). Without further delay, here's the last one in the Germanic dieties' week I'm doing with @claudiar.santos (go check out her awesome "Grimm Reaper/Metalhead-ish" Saturn) for this Inktober. Yesterday was Saturday, or Saturn's Day. This is the only non-Norse diety of the batch, because Vikings were some sort of "metrossexuals" in their time and had a bath at the whooping rate of 1/week. On Saturday. Which was called "Laugardagr", or "Wash Day" (or "Sunnunótt", "Sun-eve" or "Sunday's eve"). So, in order to keep it cool and badass and mythological, Saturn, the Roman father of Gods, God of Harvest and of Time (basically the Roman Chronos), got his place in the Germanic days of the week. His symbols are the sickle and the scythe. Since he later got to be the God of Time, I made him an hourglass necklace, too. I also equiped him like a Roman emperor, with a Lorica Musculata, to distinguish him from the Viking dieties from past days, while also adding a few subtle Viking-ish details. I'm going to try to be back for one or two more Inktobers, if I can, in these last days, but here's the end of our Germanic week. Have a great week, everyone! :D #inktober 09 :: Saturday #Inktober2017 #daysoftheweek #saturday #germanicmythology #romanmythology #saturn #saturno #mythology #godofharvest #godoftime #harvest #time #chronos #death #loricamusculata #tattoos #beard #conceptart #characterdesign
