Moses is bold but he knows what is up! No one can do anything, no one can go anywhere without the presence of the Lord. His people need to b distinguished from all the other peoples on this earth and how can someone do that apart from His presence!? Its impossible. Moses realized the need and was not going to go without asking God to reconsider His decision to not go with His people. But what strikes me more than God granting Moses this request was that immediately after, he asks God to see His glory. That is impressive and super bold. First of all Moses had a tent where He would go and meet God and hear from Him. If this were me, I would be in shock and desperate for that tent experience. But Moses knew there was MORE of God and wanted to experience it all!
6 and 7 are descriptions of God by God. I think if we are ever lacking in how to explain God to anyone, we just have to open to Exodus 34:6,7 and say that He is faithful, patient, compassionate, gracious, unfailing and consistent, forgiving and just.
It is no surprise that Moses would want to keep that veil off. He would like to remain in a position to always be ready to see the glory of God. "Undo the veil til all i see is you" (Pursuit - Kim Walker-Smith).
God first provides the people with the skills to create this incredible tabernacle. It was to be an impressive spectacle in the middle of the wilderness. God does not play around and act carelessly when it comes to His things. He provides the resources and people needed to get things done. He is faithful to complete all that He starts.
I didn't see this until a friend asked me tonight about what I was reading in the Bible tonight. It wasn't apparent by reading chapter by chapter but the Israelites had a change of heart as evidenced by their giving and willingness to give.
