Has anyone done a fanfic or AU where Tom and Marco swap narratives with Globgor and Eclipsa?
I had a theory for a while throughout the show that Marco was a descendant of the original Mewni royalty line. (Hence him gaining cheek marks immediately first time using the wand.)
So I feel like in a Relatively Falls like AU it'd be cute and interesting if those two ships swapped places.
Though I don't know where all the other characters would fall in the swap hmmm. 🤔
I love these two so much, I had to give them the angst treatment.
This fic was born out of pure burnout and about 2 hours of listening to Eclipsa's theme while studying. Enjoy!
“Here we are, Monstruito.” Globgor smiled at his daughter as he set her in the bassinet. “All comfy-cozy in Mama and Papa’s room.” He glanced anxiously towards the window. “She’ll be home soon. I’m sure of it.”
Meteora cooed at him.
Globgor sat on the edge of the bed, nervously bouncing his knee.
She would be home soon.
He wouldn’t even spare a thought for what would happen if she wasn’t.
After what felt like hours, a dark silhouette finally alighted on the balcony.
Eclipsa entered their shared bedroom, closing her wand.
Her face confirmed what Globgor had already feared.
Still, he forced a smile. “There you are!” He exclaimed, pulling her to his chest.
She wrapped her arms around him, holding him tighter than she ever had.
Once she pulled away, he saw her eyes were brimming with tears. Instinctively raising a hand to wipe them away, he sighed. “How long?”
“By morning,” she whispered, leaning into his palm, “If not before…”
“They were faster than we thought.”
“They were.” She closed her eyes, allowing a tear to fall.
“Hey,” He wiped it away with his thumb, “We haven’t lost yet, have we? I’m sure there’s a way we could–”
“Convince the magical high commission to just… go away? Leave Mewni without a queen?” She scoffed, breaking away from him.
“Well… maybe?” He shrugged.
“I’ve been working with them since I was fifteen.” She looked out the window, surveying the hills below. “They won’t change. Why do you think I ran when I figured out I was… with child?”
“If we just show her to them–”
“I am not letting them anywhere near her.” Eclipsa snapped. “They’d crystalize her, or throw her in a barren dimension, or…” She trailed off as she turned to face her daughter.
Meteora looked at her, and Globgor swore his wife was about to crumble.
He knew what was going through her mind.
“I swear, I won’t let them touch her.” He said, laying a hand on the bassinet.
“If… If something happens… take her and run.” She whispered.
“... run? Run where? Where do we go?”
“The bog. The underworld. Anywhere but here.”
“If you are intent on us running, come with us. Let’s leave now, we can probably outrun–”
“I can’t. I have to stay. I have to let them know that what they are doing isn’t right. If I don’t… then at least the archives will. Someone will find it. Someone will know.”
“Don’t say that, boo.” He crossed the room, taking her hand in his.
She pressed a kiss to his knuckles. “I’ve no choice but to make history.”
“But you do, if you’d just–”
“Darling,” she whispered, a sad smile tugging at her lips. “I’ve made my choice.” Another tear streamed down her cheek.
He pulled her to him again, and she fully broke down.
She was strong, but she was scared.
“There, now.” He mumbled, pressing a kiss to her hair. Picking her up, he went out onto the balcony. Looking up to the sky, he smiled when he found a familiar star pattern.
“Look, Eclipsa.” He gestured to the heavens. “There’s the demon.”
She lifted her head from his chest, eyes following his finger to the sky. “I’m… I’m another year older, I suppose.”
“It’s a sign. Whatever happens, you’ll be alright, my darkest star. And so will we.”
“We’ll… We’ll be alright.” She sighed, holding back a sob.
Globgor closed his eyes, savoring the moment.
Maybe even their last.
No.
“Whatever happens,” he murmured, “we’ll be alright.” He closed his eyes, silently wishing on every star in her aureole to make it true.
