one of my number one writing pet peeves is when a writer doesn't think about the massive complications or implications of something they put in on a whim it drives me nuts
This may be going into insane theory mode (I need to double check what creating a champion says about this) but knowing what we know about Sheikah tech, I think the ancient king that banished the Sheikah and caused the schism between them and the Yiga was following a clear line of logic. Was it evil and tyrannical? Yes, but he wasn't crazy for doing it.
My memory's fuzzy on this, but iirc Creating a Champion implies that ancient tech was meant to emulate sealing power, if not outright stating it. Divine Beasts are called divine for a reason.
There is also evidence of the Sheikah trying to emulate the Master Sword with ancient tech, if you look at the description for the Royal Guard's Sword:
(from Zelda Dungeon)
It also makes Zelda's desire to study ancient tech make even more sense. It wasn't just a hobby for her, it was a way for her to completely bypass getting sealing powers altogether— to completely do away with the need for two chosen ones. Given that the Divine Beasts were only part of the original plan and the Master Sword replica was inefficient, it's reasonable to say they weren't quite there yet, but that certainly doesn't make it infeasible.
Which brings me back to my original point. These Sheikah guys are playing with fire, in the Prometheus sense. If this research was continued then the Royal Family wouldn't be special, or needed. The hero wouldn't be special. Great for everyone else, sure, but not for people who want to secure a lasting rulership based on their claim to be divine.
"proper representation" is much less about aroaces being present in media to me and much more about there being room for my choices to exist and be respected. am I vaguely annoyed by people shipping confirmed aroace characters under the pretense of "aces can be in relationships too!" well yeah. that's irritating but I don't really care all that much. I want stuff where not getting into a sexual or romantic relationship 2.5 kids white picket fence style is seen as acceptable, no matter the characters' "confirmed sexuality."
if ganondorf slapping link because they are enemies that are fighting each other is child abuse then link stabbing him thru the head is elder abuse. that is an old man. check mate

unsurprising take from me but I do not think botw zelda would like link's house or want to live in it; I don't care what totk says. she'd spend about a week thinking it was cute to live there and get bored + link would have to do all the housework because she doesn't know SHIT and she wouldn't WANT to she's a PRINCESS. totk is just plain wrong she would not be a fuddy duddy housewife mending link's shirts YUCK!!!!!!
also if I haven't mentioned this before: totk zelda feeling deeply out of place because she basically jumped 100 years into the future and then feeling out of place again because she jumped 927893742 years into the past. they should have done something with that. the fact that she just happily adjusted both times without any problem makes me mad
There was a very neat post a while ago about how most of the time Ganondorf's evil is not because he's actually done anything wrong comparatively to anyone else, but because he's just bad vibes and only does evil because the plot demands it, not because that's what actually makes him evil.
I don't agree with the post (I think there are examples of Ganondorf doing bad things that directly bolster his plans and doing something because the plot demands it is pretty common for villains in general) BUT I do think that him being considered evil more because of "vibes" instead of his actions is why making Ganondorf white/making him more "palatable" as a good guy happens so often. We haven't actually wrestled with the idea that Ganondorf is assumed bad because he's dark skinned and has "evil vibes"/is the Literal Devil instead of him actually doing anything bad. And, not only is that terrible, it's lazy storytelling too.
