GodDAMNit, Casualty.  I’m not even particularly fond of Robyn, nor Glen, but you still managed to have me blubbing!  OK, so I like Glen as a character, I think he had a lot of unexplored potential, but not to the extent that I should be that upset that he left...

Interestingly, though, it wasn’t so much the Robyn/Glen scenes that I found emotional, it was actually the Glen/rest of the team scenes - particularly when Noel and Louise said goodbye to him, then Charlie and Duffy.  Although I will say that the use of the Velveteen Rabbit in his actual death scene with Robyn was a genius masterpiece of emotional manipulation, and most effective in triggering the tears.  Well played.

For a moment there, I wondered if Robyn’s second nose bleed heralded a second tragedy, but I’m now starting to think it was just a red herring.

Let’s face it, Robyn and Glen did rather overshadow the secondary storyline, of the reveal of Dylan’s alcoholism.  I thought he played the scene in his office extremely well - where he clearly needed a drink and went to call his sponsor, before being interrupted.  I never for a moment imagined that Sam didn’t know about his alcoholism, although it was made clear that theirs was not a long lasting marriage, but I did find that snippet quite interesting.  Best part of this story was Bea’s dressing down, after trying to second guess him following her erroneous perceptions.

I quite enjoyed tonight’s episode, although it was rather in spite of, not because of, the main cast storylines.  I found the foster child COTW to be quite interesting, in terms of not only the challenges of raising a teenager, but especially a fostered teenager.  I liked the mother’s insistence that he was part of their family, although I believe it’s far more common for a foster parent to take the father’s view.  I have friends who foster a teenaged boy, and I am saddened to say that they don’t treat him the same as their own children, nor do they really consider him to be a part of their family.  He is a means to a financial end, and it triggers a maelstrom of emotions for me, none of them good.  (I will say, however, that the boy is taken care of, and in no way ill treated.  He’s just not ‘one of them’.)  Ergo, appreciating the storyline.  Especially the pre credit hook using the cutest kid ever!!!

In terms of the main cast, was great to see Connie, albeit in a cameo.  I also enjoy the reminders of the Holby folk, albeit via names mentioned on phones, but hey - I can be easily pleased!

Ethan is struggling to lead the ED.  Well, yes, we knew that.  He either had to stand down or get tough - check.  I think the best thing to come out of tonight was that having been shunned at work by Ethan, Alicia will now hopefully shuck her double agent cloak, and just commit to Rage in Resus instead of playing Ethan for a fool. 

Robyn and Glen.  Oh, dear god, Robyn, give it a rest!  Whilst I don’t want to diminish the pain she would have felt having been left at the altar, nor the fact that she had a tough time immediately after Charlotte’s birth whilst Charlotte had to remain in NICU; to hear her constantly blathering on about being so alone is just utterly mendacious.  She had people around her all the time, people constantly checking in on her, and when Charlotte was discharged, she immediately moved in with Charlie and Duffy!  At what point did she struggle to cope?  Emotionally - possibly, but I don’t see that Glen’s presence would have lessened the enormity of becoming a new mother, so constantly harping on to him about it is just getting tired.
