the bottom line is that i am simply not interested in engaging with interpretations that do not acknowledge the green lantern corps as law enforcement, individual green lanterns as cops, and the employment of power rings (the single most powerful weapon in the universe!!) as militarization of the police. because that's the fucking premise of the comic book ❤️‍🩹 "is law enforcement a necessity?" is an incredibly loaded and pertinent question to pose in a genre where vigilantism is the default and that is precisely what intrigues me irt pre-2005 green lantern

what compels me re: an antipsych reading of the predator arc is the looming threat of sexual violence & (trans)misogyny & abuse vis-a-vis the spectre of self-imposed victimhood. the the villain is manufactured but the destruction is real; to lash out against the unsaid is to ask for punishment; the hysterical woman had it coming
