Oh! I had this idea au that surrounds Megatron a bit.
It takes some inspiration from idw, G1, one, etc.
It’s near the end of the war (or feelings like the end of the war), with the decepticons and Autobots doing their usual dance until Boom!
A random group of dark/powerful Cybertronians comes in and starts to fight them! Well, they more fight Optimus.
Anyway, their leader comes to Megatron and asks for an alliance. They are mechs who have seen the rise and fall of the corrupted government and wish to bring it back to the age of survival of the fittest, an age of early Cybertron, a time even before the primes. Megatron at first agrees to it, but later feels uneasy about it, especially around their leader.
Something about him is not right, someone worse than Sentinel. Even the other decepticons are uneasy about this group, even Shockwave is startled by them, more with their scientist.
The autobots are also uneasy too. And some of the older mechs/femmes feel like there is something familiar about that leader, but can’t put their finger on it.
After some battles, some plot, and the mysterious leader weaseling his way to Megatron’s side happens, the leader tells Megatron on how he can get stronger, strong enough to crush the prime’s spark. Soundwave advices Megatron not to go for it, but he’s come this far.
Their leader shows Megatron what will make him stronger but Megatron freezes when he sees it. It’s Dark Energon, something in his wires screaming at him not to drink it. Their leader tells Megatron to drink it, but Megatron refuses.
Galvatron: Tsk, that’s unfortunate, I had hoped you didn’t inherit your carrier’s heart.
Megatron: …what.
Galvatron reveals that he knew his sire and carrier. Termagax and Terminus. He knew them a long time ago. He unfortunately knew Terminus all too well.
Galvatron: my foolish brother stole what was mine!
Galvatron, once a great warrior of Cybertron, tried to court Termagax, the only one who could meet his power level. He was willing to sell his spark to her. But she chose Terminus. It broke his spark so he flew from Cybertron. And ran into Unicron and became his servant/agent. And started his plan, to bring Cybertron to the ground and rise on top. And take revenge on his brother. And later turn their precious sparkling into a weapon.
Galvatron: I made sure to separate those two, especially since what they were going was illegal at the time. (Think like the plot of Monte Cristo but Terminus is sent to the mines instead of prison while carrying) I made sure my brother suffered for what he did. I watched and directed your path, from miner to gladiator to revolutionary. So you will become the ultimate warrior of Unicron.
A prime killer.
I was impressed on what you did to Sentinel. But, disappointed that you haven’t killed this prime yet. Unfortunately, it seems you also inherited my idiot brother’s romantic spark. No matter, you soon won’t remember a thing.
Megatron and Galvatron fight but unfortunately, Galvatron over powers him and makes him drink the Dark Energon. The decepticons realize what happened later on (and secretly freaking out), and contact the autobots to tell them the situation).
The rest of the au is basically the autobots (and secretly the decepticons) fighting this group consisting of Galvatron, Jhiaxus, and other really bad guys.
It comes to a head when the groups later fights Unicron with Termagax’s help (don’t know how) and Optimus saving Megatron through the power of love and an antitoxin
