On the one hand, itâs making me tear up because Sugimotoâs main issue is that war changed him so much that he couldnât go back home because he thought Umeko wouldnât recognize him. So yeah Asirpa is like a light to him...
However, on the other hand... damn, this is just not something that Asirpa should have heard or that Sugimoto should be pushing onto her shoulders anyway. ://
Besides, it sounds so purely selfish: itâs not about Asirpa having blood on her hands and this traumatizing her or going against her wish never to kill, itâs because itâs helping him feel âsavedâ. So heâs just on the same level as Ogata wanting Asirpa to kill him just to prove that she was no better than him...
...except that Sugimoto is the one who wants her to remain âpureâ, not for her sake but for his.Â
Poor Asirpa... This little girl has been living for idk how many months pursued by grown-up men who want to use her to get their hands on huge piles of gold, mostly for warâs sake. So, to most of the cast, sheâs a way to money and war, a reason why men are ready to kill each other.Â
And now her partner, the one person sheâs hoping doesnât see her only as a way to the gold, the man she kinda has a crush on is making it about him, not about her. :///
Seriously, when is the last time we have seen Asirpa looking happy or relieved, when is the last time she said âhinnaâ or acted like the child sheâs supposed to be?Â
This chapter annihilated me. T_T
