Let's talk about commenting on fanworks...
Some people like to be told what people did and didn't like. I don't have so much issue on this. I don't mind reading a comment that says, "I enjoyed character a, but felt character b could have responded etc..."
I do take issue when an entire comment is what someone didn't like. For example, "You should have made character do this, character a could have done this, this character did nothing wrong and your wrong for how you portrayed him."
Let me expand, the characterization that is in someones head from official sources, fanworks, semi-official canon etc. is not the characterization I have chosen to write. That is an author's prerogative. It does not matter if you find it out of character, unwarranted, or even a stupid decision on the main character's part. It was a pointed plot point decided by the person writing the fanworks.
If a story is not for you, then please move along. Even a politely worded comment can make some writers just "stop."
If you want to rant, find an appropriate platform where conversation is invited.
I deleted the comment so looking through my work should not help a person pinpoint who this was written in response too, but please be aware this is not just because of that person. It is because it's happened time and time again.
I love to read. I love fanworks. I enjoy writing and art. I do, however, support the creator's right to a safe space.
If you decide to add an opinion, thought, or question, please keep it polite, do not call out specific people, and if you come at me or anyone else with fire in your breath, I'll delete.
