For the fanfic meme: 14, 23, 40
14. What (angst) tropes/elements/scenarios get you the worst?
The worst is when a child is taken away, like when baby Violetâs birth mom took her from Kurt and Blaine in the Lights Will Guide You Home series by @gingerandfair. (I mentioned this one in an earlier post.)
I donât know what the fandom term for this is, or even if there is one, but Iâll call it âsecret sacrifice.â When one character gives something up to benefit someone else, but doesnât tell them. This, of course, leads to misunderstandings and an emotional reveal. Even though I know what will happen, I still stay on the angst train. Gets me every time. An example of this would be when Kurt agrees to marry his former betrothed in The Sidhe by @chazzam.
Also, when a character who has suffered abuse from bullies or others and finally realizes their worth. The very best example of this is the story Waiting for a Happy Ending, which is the sequel to Looking for a Happy Ending by @fireflyca. There are several moments that kill me in those fics, but I will never forget the scene when Blaine watches the old video of himself talking about wanting to marry Anderson Cooper, and realizes his parents donât have an issue with his sexuality. His whole worldview changed in that moment. I still think about it. (Note: Those fics are intense and some scenes may be triggering for readers. Heed the authorâs warnings.)
23. Biggest (porn) turn-offs in fic?
Incest, hardcore BDSM, watersports, bestiality, rape, comeplay.
40. Do you like fluff?
Yes, but not all of it. I have favorite fluff authors, and Iâll read anything they write. The absolute best fluff writer is @alilactree. I like her stuff because she is soooo funny. I love her entire catalog--not exaggerating.
My other go-to for funny fluff is @villiageidiot. Mild angst in her stuff, but you know that itâs all for the laugh, so it doesnât feel like angst. Great early!Klaine fics. Her fic The Bro Code is especially awesome.
