Bella and I visited the ruins of Gight castle. Its from about 1570 snd was owned by the poet Byron's mother at one time and has some ill folklore associated with it. Thomas the Rhymer is said to have foretold the deaths of 3 owners of it and there is tales of an underwater cave at hagberry pool where the wealth was hidden when it was sacked, which could not be recovered as of the men sent to dive recover it, the first returned reporting an encounter with the devil, the second one the waters returned a headless corpse.
Where the pool was no one really knows, the river moves, but there is a hillside covered with hagberry (blackthorn) above the river below the castle, and a burn in a deep cleft on the way there.
I turned around after crossing the threshold to take a picture of Bella, it turned out 'strange'.
Oddly although I was sure I took more pictures of her as we explored, she's not in any of them.
