Bio: A Gigerian ex-idol and underground singer from Asia, Mi-yeon's standoffish and blunt nature makes her a tough nut to crack, especially paired with her towering height. Unlike her fellow Azuri Zaida, Mi-yeon still has her wings and will use them to traverse the busy streets of Seoul.

The reason for Mi-yeon's standoffish attitute, sour moods and unwillingness to let others get too close to her isn't an inherent trait. She used to be happier. Behind that icy glare is a story of sadness.

In the past, Mi-yeon and her human best friend "Kim" were part of an up and coming K-Pop idol group. Before their K-Pop careers, Kim and Mi-yeon had met a year prior while they were both on vacation in Japan, and were nearly inseperable since that day. After a while, they and made a name for themselves as the "Sweet n' Sweeter" duo due to how cheery and sweet their performances were onstage and with fans. When Kim found herself being stalked by an incredibly persistent and unstable fan (often known as a Sasaeng in K-Pop culture), she became increasingly more and more stressed. If she changed numbers, he'd always find the new one a week later. If she met with her other friends outside of the K-Pop scene, Kim would have to make sure her stalker wasn't trying to befriend them in an effort to get to her. Eventually, things escalated to the point where Kim couldn't exit her own home or go out in public without having to wear a disguise or enlist security to keep her safe. When the stalker had finally reached his breaking point, he sent her death threats, attempted to mail disgusting things to her, and nearly stabbed her at a signing event after sneaking past the blacklist.

The stress and fear Kim felt couldn't be put into words, and despite Mi-yeon's best efforts to understand, Kim pushed her away so as to not put any of the burden on her Gigerian friend. After a week since the attempted stabbing, Mi-yeon entered her hotel room where she and Kim were staying while the police tried to track down the stalker…

Only to find that Kim had overdosed and hung herself. Since that day, Mi-yeon has been too afraid to get close to anyone for fear of losing them like she did Kim. Though Kim's stalker had been successfully arrested and put behind bars for life, Mi-yeon blames herself for not doing enough to ensure her best friend's safety. Mi-yeon has since then distanced herself from the world of K-Pop, becoming an underground singer and rapper spitting bars as an outlet for her pain.

Design Notes: Mi-yeon's incredible height along with her attire's fusion of underground idol-punk elements and her bitter personality all come together to show off a beautiful girl who witnessed the effects of how dark the idol industry in Korea has been for many, many decades. While she is capable of kindness, her choice of attire and near-permanent scowl is a visual indicator that despite her efforts Mi-yeon is not immune to the darker side of K-pop, particularly when it comes to certain types of obsessive fans.

Bio: Celene Ruedi is a world-renowned Gigerian singer and songwriter who has earned the title of the "Amethyst Star." She is widely regarded within the music industry as the gold standard for performers, embodying the ideal balance of talent and professional conduct. Her rise to fame is fueled by her passionate stage presence and a genuine, friendly rapport with her fanbase, which has garnered her immense respect and a long list of fellow Gigerian performers eager to collaborate with her.

Despite her massive success, the "Amethyst Star" has recently found herself at a creative standstill. Her inability to write new music is tied to two deeply personal distractions: the lingering memory of a woman from her past and a growing obsession with the mystery of her species' origins. While it is known that the Gigerians were discovered 32 years ago hibernating beneath the Earth’s surface, much about their beginning remains unknown—including why the species is almost entirely female, with only six males ever recorded in history. Driven by a need for clarity, Celene has announced an indefinite hiatus to embark on a journey of self-discovery, seeking the truth about herself and the Gigerian people...

Design Notes: Celene, along with the rest of her species - is heavily based on the works of HR Giger. From their sleek and exotic appearance to their species' name, Gigerians were intended from the very beginning to essentially be "Xenomorph-inspired women that lean less into the movie "Species" and more into anime territory". Celene's surname of "Ruedi" comes from the middle name of HR Giger, too.

Unfortunately due to difficulties in the program I currently use, I have not been able to give the Gigerians the slightly-lankier proportions and body details that were originally intended back in 2012, over TEN years before I was able to even remotely realise my designs. This will change once the project (eventually) makes the full move to 2D.

In 2063, a full 30 years after World War 3 was brought to a devastating end due to a Russian Superweapon going rogue and decimating over 60% of Earth's population, the Scorched Zones that were once countries were discovered to have significantly lower (and safer) radiation levels compared to just 30 years ago. Research teams and scientists would enter the zones to salvage what little remained and figure out the cause of the sharply dropping radiation levels. In 2065, excavation of the ground in the Scorched Zones began, and the world's greatest discovery was uncovered in China's ruins:

There was alien life beneath the ground.

Humanity had discovered alien life sleeping deep in the earth, somehow undetected and undisturbed for millenia. With only 35% of earth's population remaining, they welcomed this new discovery with open arms, discovering that (most) of these gentle giants were as kind as they were powerful, and the world would soon be home to both human and "Gigerian" sentient life. In 2069, a bill was passed that ensured that not only were Gigerians accepted into society, they would be recognised as sentient beings with rights. Since then, Gigerians have become a part of man's everyday life despite their total numbers reaching just over 1100. Although many Gigerians are now part of the entertainment industry, some are content with living just like regular people and almost all of them would aid in bringing humanity back from the brink of total collapse they had faced for 30 years prior. Gigerians are tall humanoid aliens with faces resembling that of a human's, but below the neck their bodies are plated with a tough and flexible chitin similar to that of some arthropods and crustaceans. With the exception of only 6 males, the entire race is female. Despite having similar genitalia to humans, Gigerians have no reproductive capabilities or any known history of reproduction. For this reason, it is widely assumed by both races that the Gigerians we all know and love are fully grown. A Gigerian's blood is different to that of humans, being more akin to water than human blood's viscous properties. In addition, their blood is a flourescent cyan color. Aside from their bizarre reproductive anomalies and height, Gigerians boast vastly superior agility, strength, endurance and reflexes than humans.

There are THREE species of Gigerian, each one being uniquely different from one another.

HANSIA

Example: Celene

The most common species of Gigerian making up a staggering 93% of the entire Gigerian population. Their bodies are primarily a glossy black, though they have the most variation in terms of color. Some have a slightly lighter matte grey, while others are a shinier dark bronze. Hansia strike a "middle ground" between all three species, though their one unique trait is the ability to "unfold" a hidden joint at the back of their knees to adopt a more digitigrade stance for mobility and combat. Their forearms and calves are lined with sharp curved "spines" which can retract at will. Hansia are the shortest of all three species at around 6'05" on average, though this is still noticeably tall even for human standards.

LUCIFEROAN

Example: Envy

A taller species that has greener body colors. Luciferoans make up 5.6% of the population. Their bodies are the most durable of the Gigerians, with their armor easily deflecting small arms fire and the flexible armor plates "locking" together to provide even more defense in dire situations. Due to this thicker armor, Luciferoans are the heaviest amongst their kind. Luciferoans boast thicker spines on their forearms and calves, and in addition to these razor-sharp spines being tougher than Hansia, they are capable of secreting a highly radioactive acid (which can also be produced from their claws). Luciferoans are the second tallest of all three species, standing at around 7ft on average. Due to their highly dangerous claws and spines, most Luciferoans will sand down their claws and spines to ensure the safety of others due to them not being able to retract them like Hansia.

AZURI

Example: Mi-yeon

The tallest and rarest species of Gigerians. Making up a mere 1.5% of the entire Gigerian population (which is already small at around only 1100), Azuri are a rare sight to see. They lack the spines of the Hansia and Luciferoan species, compensating for it with the ability to fly thanks to the large butterfly-esque wings sprouting from their backs. Hansia are the most lightweight of all Gigerians, which grants them unparalleled speed along with increased aerial mobility. Azuri are technically the "weakest" physically for the most part, though their strength still outshines humans. Their jaws seem to have the most strength, even more powerful than their wing muscles. It is thought that Azuri have blood vessels that function similarly to a high-powered hydraulic press, allowing them to bite through anything with their uniquely bear-trap shaped teeth. Their bite force more than out-performs that of a Saltwater Crocodile, making them the most powerful creatures on earth in terms of pressure per square inch. Due to their bodies being light and their armor plates also sharing this trait, Azuri tend to stay away from combat unless it can be taken to the skies. There, they will use their unmatched agility and aerial capabilities to disorient and wear down the target until they can be finished off with a fatal bite. Azuri are the tallest of all three species, standing at anywhere between 7'03 and a staggering 9'00" on average.

There are more hidden traits and abilities for all three species of Gigerian that I am unable to reveal at this time, but for now I hope this gives you a rough idea of this bizarre alien species!
