you know what my favorite part about having a close friend / bestie / qpp????

i get to make hella gifts for her.

i found this jacket at her favorite clothing store. she is always cold and having to choose between dressing cute at work and dressing warm instead. so i thought this little flannel would be perfect since she also wants my flannels like all the time (true butch x fem vibes lol).

but then i try on the jacket myself and I'm like 'mmmmmmmm no this is too lightweight still." plus the inside is kinda itchy. and then i wonder if i can line the inside with something warm. one of my coworkers suggests sherpa.

i immediately went to the fabric store, bought a yard and a half of sherpa, and am now lining this jacket, by hand, for this sweet little blonde girl.

i have never lined a jacket in my life. i have never made my own clothes period. maybe a few times I've fixed and minorly altered some of my own clothes. but nothing like this.

creativity is one of my favorite things. i love people for whom i can be creative. i think she is really going to love this so much and i can't wait to give it to her. i already loved the color, but the inside is going to be so amazing once it's done. and it's all sitting so well inside too. it doesn't look too bulky or anything. and doing all this by hand has proven to be invaluable because i can hide my needlework expertly. takes a while. I've done the back panel and one sleeve so far. but i am so pumped to have this one done.

fuck i love the holidays. for this reason. i get to give people i care about gifts. i love giving, choosing, and making gifts for people. i love having projects. and i love sharing my creativity. it makes me really happy to make useful gifts too, like clothes. i am so proud of myself for taking on this project and I'm so excited to see it done. I'm so excited to see her face too. she has no idea what the project is, saw some sherpa pieces in my room, and i told her it was for something I'm making for myself. little does she know she's about to get a surprise that'll knock her socks off.
