I’ve made so much progress in terms of happiness in the past year and though I can’t attribute all of it to GHP, that’s where it started.

I can’t emphasize enough how thankful I am to have met 689 incredibly talented and passionate teens. They showed me that life is vivacious. That if you don’t perceive everyday as holding the potential for adventure, you’re not looking hard enough.

I really thought the cliche "ghp is life changing" statement was nothing more than a generic statement that ghp alumni felt obligated to say to us. Boy, was I wrong. GHP did in fact-wait for it- change my life. The people I met have all touched my life in some way or another, taught me something new, opened my eyes to something, and made this experience so incredibly special. I can't even put into words how amazing this past month has been, but it's been the best summer of my life. I know I'm coming home different, and I cannot thank the therp and everyone at GHP enough. It's been fantastic. Each and every therp, as well as the people from other majors, has a special place in my heart. I love you all dearly. I cannot have imagined this experience with any better group of people. Thank you for all the tears, laughter, and memories. I can't and I won't ever forget them. I can't wait to see all of y'all again, you beautiful idiots. This is just our beginning.

As you may have noticed, I have not been as active as I normally am. The reason for that is something called GHP. As you know I was selected to participate in the 4 week program for Theater Performance. While I was there I minored in Vocal Performance and attended crazy seminars such as: 1000 Ways to be Happy, Doctor Who discussions, The life and times of Peter Reitz and plenty of Disney Sing-Alongs. I watched plenty of movies such as Casablanca, Much Ado About Nothing, The Circus, Young Frankenstein etc. I performed as a clown and learned that we play in the ridiculous to discover the sublime. I learned that every character you play is just an exaggerated version of yourself. I experienced laundry for the first time which was awful. I survived the GHP-Plague. I had food parties every night after 10:30 hall check. I met so many people that I couldn't even remember half of their names for the first 2 weeks. I met an amazing guy who changed my life forever. I gained two mentors named Mike and Jenny who taught me to embrace all of my flaws and share my struggle with the audience because the audience loves to watch me. I became a beautiful idiot. I survived palms food. I teased Mr. Giel and Mr. Fitz on a daily basis. Most importantly I found out who I am as a person.

GHP truly is life-changing and I am going to miss the magic square greatly now that I am "home".
