The book in her hands captivated her to the point she forgot she wasn’t alone in the library. Obviously, she brought some company with her to entertain herself in case the book she picked that day was boring. What was he even doing with an essay? Every single moment spent with Blue could be summarized in only one word: weird. A charleston storyline, it was slow at first only to end up into a big mess in less than three seconds. The way he turned the book over and over again, how many times he rose an eyebrow… Mihyun understood he had no idea of what he was doing here, with her. “You know…” she whispered, two of her fingers holding down his book. “If you picked something else, you would perhaps enjoy a moment of silence.” She didn’t wait for his response and came back to her own reading, losing herself once more into the plot. Everything was dark around her, silent. Similar to music, literature took her to another world where her normal universe didn’t exist. She was sometimes a fairy, a killer, a broke student, all at once. Yet, some people just couldn’t let her travel freely. “Can we go now?” She looked at him, closing his book. Her chair made a small noise as she stood up, walking past the table to stand next to him. He was tall, even while sitting down, but his eyes didn’t belong to an adult, nor a human. “One day, I’ll make sure I lock your soul in one of my little jars.” None of them knew wether she was serious or not, she never told him she knew how to mess with spirits and souls. They both nodded and, suddenly, she heard him laugh. “I still pretend I know what it means.”

a picture of his father. it’s what his uncle used to say, when he was ten years old and sporting knobby knees, thin limbs, dirtied knuckles. back in daegu, on his uncle’s farm, sitting in the table near the window where the sun would hit the side of his face. the pale, yellow curtains that were always open touching his arm. quiet, gentle winds and the chirping of morning birds, with his uncle sitting across from him wearing all blue and white. and always, whenever they met, he would say ‘you look exactly like your father’. jungkook had never held any sort of contempt for any person before, but he had hated his uncle for always comparing. had there been a point in his visits ? perhaps to keep himself attached to familial bonds. but what do you do when even your family turns their back on you.

he finishes wrapping the bandage around his ankle, hissing at the throbbing pain. “even if it’s somebody you know. or supposed to like. maybe family or somethin’.” he slowly stretches his leg out, pressing a palm against his knee. “some people don’t hate assholes and I don’t get it. but whatever. ‘s their life.”

”And you know a lot about revenge, is that right?” The question slipped out faster than she could fully process his words. There was truth etched aross the outline of each letter, and it was almost like his words were her own.No one knew better than her what it meant to try to take revenge on someone. No one knew what happened to her when she tried to take back what was rightfully hers, and the only reminders of her failed attempts were the scars on her back and the lines on her neck. With his words came a stream of thoughts, waiting for him to reply to her question while trying to figure out what she wanted to hear slip out of his mouth.“Though I suppose you already know that I’ve had my fair share of revenge stories, most of which came out not in favor of my life.” She leaned against the bench, watched as the train sped past them to the next station. How many trains had they waited for only to stay where they were. Rather than sitting by themselves on a bumpy way home, they stayed in each other’s company. 

And for what? 

The panic is unmistakable in Alec’s system as it charges through freely without any hinderance. He tries not to let it show in his actions, however. His hands keep steady, and his eyes remain focused ahead of him instead of around. 

But he can’t mask the scent of blood that’s slowly beginning to dissipate through the air. He can’t mask the crimson that’s becoming sticky against his skin and bronze from air exposure. 

“You need to go,” The mutant hears them say. He can’t pin point as to whether or not they’re afraid as well after having witnessed a death, but there’s no time to spare. He drops the body onto the concrete and rises to his feet. Just to make sure, he extends his arms in front of him before exhaling in relief. Human. 

But before he can flee, he knows there’s one more crime to commit. Alec may exist alongside a foundation of morals and beliefs, but he can’t continue doing so with the chance of being condemned behind bars.
