Ghost+Grave 13: And Then... [with @realghostbusteregonspengler] The whole day was something... Once back at the Firehouse, Riley started writing in her Journal Elysium about the busy day. It was exciting to meet Egon's mother. The picnic with Egon however, was even more special. She grinned to herself, blushing a bit as she lied down on the bed, writing away. But at one point she rested the open book on her chest, closed her eyes to take it all in again ...and fell right into a nap!

It had been a crazy night for both the Ghostbuster and his Gravekeeper. Egon and his teammates had a Class 6 ghost to tackle. Meanwhile Riley and Audergine had a long, suspiciously quiet Nightâs Watch⊠which turned out that Doctor Rowanâs mother had finally died after a long illness. And for them that meant digging a grave and preparing a coffin for the body.
Once back at the Firehouse, Egon was joined by Riley, and the two took a much-needed shower. Freshly cleaned of the muck and grit, the two got into their jammies and got into bed.
Cuddle mode: activated.
âSo how was your night, handsome?â Riley asked her future husband.
âMine was exhausting, complete with a bustâ Egon replied. âHow was yours, beautiful?â
âExhausting, complete with a freshly-dug graveâ his future wife answered.
âOh noâwho died?â
âDoctor Row'nâs Mother. Sheâd been ill for quite a while. It was only a matter o'time.â
Egon nodded. âI understand.â
Riley sighed, nodding as well. âThank'ee, love⊠it was a long, quiet night.â
âWell itâs over, Aureliaâ Egon whispered, kissing her forehead. âWeâve made it. Weâre together now. Youâre here with me.â
âI knowâ Riley whispered back, smiling. âAnd itâs th'nicest feeling in the world, being with you.â
Egon smiled warmly at her. âThe feeling is mutual, always.â
A few minutes of comfortable silence fell around the betrothed couple⊠and this time it was Egon who spoke first. âThank you again for the Mizpah coin. Iâm wearing my half⊠whenever I look at it I wonder how youâre doingâŠâ
Riley smiled softly. âYouâre welcome, Egon⊠Iâm always thinking of you when I touch my half of the coin.â
âThat coin is very symbolic. And itâs special.â He held his half of the coin in his hand.
âThereâs meaning behind it. All the more when our halves come together.â She took her half of the coin and placed it together with his, forming the whole of the coin.
Egon clasped her half-holding hand in his. âAnd we come together.â
âAnd everything falls into place.â
âI know you and I already are but⊠Aurelia Marie Cranston⊠will you marry me?â
âEgon Spengler, I certainly will.â
The Ghostbuster touched the tip of his nose to hers, smiling again. âRileyâ he whispered, âletâs get married.â
The Gravekeeper smiled back at him. âLetâs get married, Egonâ she whispered.
âI missed you too, Riley⊠I missed you more.â
âI canât wait âtil we tell ev'ryone⊠Slimer is goinâ t'be so happy for us.â
âI can imagine Jim crying in joy over the newsâŠâ
âAnd Peter beinâ all sorts of elated for usâŠâ
âAnd Audergine probably hugging the stuffing out of us bothâŠâ
Riley took his face in her hands. âShh⊠that momentâll happen in due time, Egonâ she whispered.
Egon nodded. âIndeed, and when it happens⊠it will happenâ he whispered quietly. âFor now however⊠letâs get some sleep.â
Riley nodded. âYes⊠letâs.â
Her future husband gave her a loving kiss on her lips, before holding her tightly as he fell asleep. Egon always felt safe around his future wife⊠Riley was his protectress, and he her guardian. There was something mutual and warm about this love⊠messy at times, yes, but this love was and is very real.

âLady Cranston, ma'am! Yeâve got a special mail call, m'dearâ âit was George, the local mailman of the town. He and his wife had known Riley and the Cranston family for ages, and George really was a town favorite. He loved to sing, and always enjoyed an opportunity to entertain the children at the Orphanage. Tonight however, was a surprise even for him as to why he was visiting the Gravekeeperâand for once, it had nothing to do with regular mail or visiting his late parents.
âMr. George!â Riley greeted at the gate. Gabriel, the cocker spaniel, followed herâfollowed by the cats. And Icarus simply kept watch from his favorite perchâin the heart of the graveyard. âTo what do I owe the honor of a special mail call?â she asked as Gabriel sniffed the mailman.
âAye, yeâs a sweet pupâ George greeted the puppy, petting him before delivering Riley the mail with the other hand. ââTis from the Lord Magistrate, little âunâ he then addressed her. âHe wanted this delivered last so to avoid it getting mixed up by accident with the rest of the mail.â
Riley raised a brow at George as she listened to the explanation, holding the envelope in her hands. âI⊠I am now unsure that I even want toââ
âOh trust me, 'Relia, youâll want to knowâ George said, interrupting her. âIâd open it now while ye got a moment.â
Sighing in grief, she opened the envelope⊠and gasped. âOh sweet Mother of Godâ she whispered. âHe canât be seriousââ
âWell if he wasnât serious his wife Cath'rine wouldnât have had me deliver the special parcel that was placed outside while ye ran y'errandsâ George replied with a wise smile. âIf I were you, 'Relia, I would get ready for the party. M'wife and I will be there as well.â He returned his attention to the puppy; âAnd arenât ya a sweet'un!! Whatâs yer name, little pup?â
Riley smiled at the sight. âHis name is Gabriel, Georgeâ she said.
George grinned. âGabriel, aye? Well I think ye have a great Mum there, little manâ he said, scratching the pup behind an ear. âIâm George, the local mailman. Pleased to meet ya, good sir!â Gabriel gave an adorable yelp in reply, wagging his tail. Rileyâs smile turned into a grin.
âWell M'rie, I had better get a-goinâ and get ready for the partyâ George then said. âOne of the Constables will be over to take over for tonightâs Watch, so ye should be in good hands for the night.â Riley nodded hesitantly as he spoke further. âI think youâll be alright if ye just show up for a little bit. Y'rarely get to go to these sort of things, I know.â He gave her a kiss on the forehead. âAnna and I look forward t'seeing you later, 'Relia.â With that he turned and started making his way back to town, while Riley turned to slowly make her way to the House'oleum with the parcelâŠ
ââââââââ
ââŠholy grit and gravy, CathâŠâ
Riley gasped as she opened the package from Lady Catherineâa specially made dress. One thatâaccording to the note attachedâthe lady herself had made only for the Gravekeeper. The dress was a stunning red and black, short sleeves and white gloves to go with them. Handmade hair adornments to match as well. Her Deathly Majesty was in shock⊠and humbled⊠that her Godmother would have this made for her.
With a sigh of resignation she set for a bath for the night, and got dressed. The actual dress itself fit her like a dream, and the adornments almost made her look somewhat regal. She was quite surprised as she fixed her hair in her bedroom, putting it in an updo.
ââŠI almost wish Egon could see me right nowâ she whispered, as if awaiting a portal any moment nowâŠ
đ»+đ 2: The Next Morning [with @realghostbusteregonspengler]
It was a very different morning for Riley as she woke up and took in her surroundings for a moment. And then she remembered. And she quietly giggled, resting her head against Egonâs beating heart.
Last night was the result of an empty soda can thrown at her. Two paper clips and a pillow later, a pillow fight resulted and before Riley knew it, they were giggle-happy on the floor. Admitted they liked each other. And had their first kiss.
The last thing she recalled was giggles, cuddles interspersed with kisses, and comfortable silences. One of those silences that she fell asleep to, head resting against his heartbeat. The last time that had happened to her, was too long ago and it wasnât a happy situation⊠she couldnât remember right away, and didnât want to.
But now⊠Riley smiled as she looked at Egon⊠took a pillow⊠and lightly bopped him on the head with it.

[Continuation of G+G6.]
...warmth.
Riley woke up a good 9 or 10 hours later, still in a good amount of pain, but content not to want to move very much. Not while her boyfriend was here. But one thing was certain--her mind was much clearer than it had been before she finally got the chance to sleep. And for another, she was grateful that he was here.
Slow movement due to pain despite the warmth of his body, she hugged him tightly. "Good afternoon, Egon..."

Riley woke up the next morning snuggled in Egonâs arms⊠as the little spoon. With Egon planting slumbered kisses at the back of her neck where her oldest gravekeeping scar was⊠and yet, at her most vulnerable and perhaps, her most human. Because the night before⊠she remembers having one glass of wine while at her Godparentsâ home, at dinner. That resulted in her giving Egon the first of many a hot kissâŠ
Dayumn. The making out that ensued.
Slowly she turned to snuggle up to him, still punch-drunk on his kisses because, holy âell, the man could kiss. After a moment of holding him to her, she quickly threw the comforter over them, and blinked⊠took a peek under the blanket. Blushed faintly to see she was only in her under-dress and him in his skivvies.

Dedicated to, well, all of you.]
ââŠRiles, you meanâŠ!?â
"Shh, Kevin. Theyâll hear you, damnit.â
Her Royal Highness hated these sort of things. Balls. They were nothing short of irksome. And thank God her loyal sidekickâer, guardâwas at her side. But tonight⊠this was different. Her father the King was luckily a trite too drunk to notice that her daughter had eyes for one of the visiting nobles⊠a prince. One she had the brass ones to sneak away out of the castle one day with Kevinâand the next thing she knew, she was sitting with the prince under a tree while they were discussing what he was reading. Why she left the castle in the first place. What life was like in their respective castles that sometimes felt like dungeons.
In an unexpected twist of fate, she found herself trying to spend more time with himâof course, with Kevinâs guardianship. Kevin was her best friend, her loyal guard who knew how to cover their asses better than half the nobility in the land. Riley was no idiot. Neither was Kevin. And given that the Princess strove to try to better understand the her peopleâthe people she cared aboutâit was almost no surprise that she would take a moment out of her outside adventures to try to see Egon⊠who understood the kind of woman she was.
This ball however⊠her father was gracious to invite Prince Egon, and he wasted no time in making his way to the festivities. Oh! the pomp! The pageantry!
âŠthe two-faced balogna-and-queso that Riley just was not up for dealing with.
Her father, drunk with wine and merry to all hell, at one point wanted to set her up with a duke and see what happened. Then again, the duke saw that the Princess was uncomfortable, and opted to ask for her recommendation on whom heâd be better set up with. Thankfully Riley knew one of her few good friendsâLady Rebecca, or Remy as she was known asâwho was both beautiful and single⊠and with Kevinâs help, set the two up.
But at one point⊠Riley had decided to confide to Kevin that, sheâd found herself falling for Prince Egon. But she had to silence her best friend quickâGod forbid anyone else overheard. Then again, no one noticed how close she and the Prince were dancing⊠or how they locked eyes frequently⊠or the secret smiles they shared. Except for Kevin of course. But now her father, still drunk and merry, wanted to set his daughter up for marriageâand that was when she wanted to leave the ball. Now. And that meant sneaking outâwhich freaked her guard out. She was livid⊠she was scared.
Quickly, she tried to sneak out. Kevin was quick to motion to Egon to follow herâwhich the Prince did, followed by the Princessâ guardian. The guards at the door of the ballroom, and through the rest of the castle for that matter, dare not questioned the Princess as she stormed down the halls, trying not to cry but furious as she could be. Prince Egon and Kevin followed her as fast as they could, trying not to startle Riley, as they were afraid a situation could result.
The next thing Kevin knewâand bless that guardâs heart!âhis Princess had snuck into the Observatory; there was a gate that opened onto the roof of one area of the castle. Her favorite place to sneak out and hide away from the hells of being a royal. And tonight, it was lit only by the full moon that held its sway over the clear night sky. Right now⊠she had no place else to go. The ball was no longer fun to be in⊠not that it ever was butâŠ
But it was in the Observatory that she snuck in, and had to breathe. Kevin and Egon followed her, keeping quiet for a moment as not to startle her⊠but it was the Prince who softly got her attention, knew exactly how she was feeling as he could see glistening tears falling down her cheeks. She hated the ball, she hated the pomp, she hated the fakery in abundance, she hated the hypocrisy⊠she hated being a royal. And right now, he was going to be her saving grace, as he sang to herâŠ
âNo more talk of darkness,
Forget these wide-eyed fearsâ
Iâm here, nothing can harm you,
my words will warm and calm youâŠâ
Riley turned to look at him as he sang, raising a puzzled brow. âYou followed me?â she mouthed quietly, but listening to him as he sang furtherâŠ
âLet me be your freedom,
let daylight dry your tears.
Iâm here with you, beside you,
to guard you and to guide youâŠâ
By then she had turned to walk to the gate, and onto the open area of the roof that was secured by gargoyles. Riley sang in reply to his pleading, a plea of her own as he followed herâŠ
âSay you love me every waking moment,
turn my head with talk of summertimeâŠ
Say you need me with you now and alwaysâŠ
Promise me that all you say is trueâ
thatâs all I ask of youâŠâ
Egon took her hand, held it to his heart as he joined her on the roof. Riley turned to face him as he sang in turn,
âLet me be your shelter,
let me be your lightâ
Youâre safe, No one will find you,
your fears are far behind youâŠâ
Meanwhile Kevin quietly kept watch from within the Observatory as the two were together. Riley seemed to have forgotten her guard was nearby as she sang to EgonâŠ
âAll I want is freedom,
a world with no more night
and you, always beside me,
to hold me and to hide meâŠâ
It was then that Egon sang to her⊠almost as a proposalâ
âThen say youâll share with me
one love, one lifetimeâ
let me lead you from your solitudeâŠ
Say you need me with you here, beside youâŠ
anywhere you go, let me go tooâ
Riley, thatâs all I ask of youâŠâ
Riley took in everything he had sang, and realised that what they hadâit was love. And it was real. And his love⊠she gladly reciprocated,
âSay youâll share with me one love, one lifetimeâŠ
say the word and I will follow youâŠâ
Kevin kept the watch, smiling to himself in amazement as the two royals sang together,
âShare each day with me,
each night, each morningâŠâ
âSay you love meâŠâ Riley whispered.
âYou know I doâŠâ Egon replied softly. The Princessâ voice joined with his as they gently sang, pleaded one thing from each other:
âLove me - thatâs all I ask of youâŠâ
Kevin was happier than a partridge in a pear tree as he watched his brave Princess and the Prince sheâd chosen share a kiss that sealed their promise. The guard was more than happy for the two, as Egon held her in his arms and spun around joyfully. He then set her down, as the two sang once more,
âAnywhere you go let me go tooâ
Love me - thatâs all I ask of youâŠâ
And the silence that followed the two⊠seemed to last forever. Felt like it could. Egon pulled Riley into a warm embraced and kissed her once again. And Kevin? He certainly wasnât the third wheelâbut their guard, their watchman if you will. Making sure no one went into the Observatory, because the last thing he and the two royals needed, was to get found out.
Not happening tonight.
The three snuck back into the ball, and Riley was in far better spirits after what sheâd experienced. Kevin kept a good close watch as the Princess and Prince Egon stayed close to each other, taking every chance to dance together as they could. Maybe then the other royals would take a hintâthat perhaps, this was a love no one and nothing else was going to mess around withâŠ
