People talked about the mountain out on Ghost Spit. The mountain was, well, a mountain- it had been there as long as anyone dead or alive could remember. Didn’t stop people from talking, though. Talking about how unnatural it looked- how the hills at its base looked like they were moved out of the way for it; talk about the strange occurrences in the surrounding woods; talk about why the airways and ports were often closed, and one would have to wait for low tide to even be able to drive out to Ghost Spit (and why no one seemed to bother raising the weather-worn highway).
But then again, that’s just how the mountain was- how it’s been since anyone could remember. Nothing new, so why question it now?
