Part 3 of the Ghostly series
Phantom Love of Mine
âHow did I get myself into this fucking mess?â Eren asked with a huff of disdain, but a small smile was tugging at the corners of his lips as he mopped the grand foyer of his favorite phantomâs estate. The sun was shining golden against the wood floors, the panelled windows open to let in the fresh scent of spring and the morning songs of cardinals and blue jays. Spring was Erenâs favorite time of year, as odd as it may seem, and it was even more beautiful here.
Especially with Levi.
âYou missed a spot.â The phantom suddenly appeared, abruptly ripping Eren out of his fond thoughts. The demonâs feet nearly slid out from beneath him at the scare, but he quickly righted himself once again.
He tried to ignore Leviâs laughter, but it was such a pretty sound.
âFuck you,â Eren shot back, his cheeks blazing a hot crimson.
Levi hovered over, standing directly in front of the demon whoâs bright teal eyes wouldnât meet his. âIâm so sorry. Did I frighten you?â he chuckled, fingers twitching slightly as he held back the overwhelming need to brush his hand over Erenâs blushing cheeks.
Erenâs arms crossed over his chest, his hip cocking out sassily as his face fell into a frown. âYou can be a real dick sometimes, you know that?â he seethed, but Levi didnât catch any hint of actual malice or bite. âI mean, here I am. Minding my own business, mopping this damn floor for you, holding up my end of the deal without complaint, and you sneak up on me like some creep! I donât even know why I stick around! I could leave and never come back, you know!â
Something squeezed in Leviâs chest at the thought of this demon leaving their shared home, the same loneliness that seemed to drown him at night rising in his throat. âSo why donât you?â The words escaped as quietly as a whisper without his permission as he tried to hide the disappointment and sadness in his eyes. âWhy do you choose to stay with me?â
Eren said nothing for a while, only watched as Levi seemed to lose all color before him. He opened his mouth to speak after a moment, but the ghost only cut him off.
âOur deal didnât specify how long you were going to stay. Hell, I thought youâd be gone after the first night. But youâre still here and I donât understand why.â Levi was babbling, something he never did in all his years of being. âItâs been over a year, Eren. You donât have to be here. Donât you have better things to do in the Underworld or some shit?â
Eren couldnât help himself as he chuckled, stepping forward to push a strand of raven hair away from the phantomâs face. âYouâre right. I could probably find something much more entertaining to do than cleaning this big ass house. I could find souls to devour. I could find a quick fuck. I could be anywhere but here. So why stay?â
Levi felt the tightness in his chest expanding, raising a thin eyebrow in question as he watched the demonâs demeanor shift. âYes. Why?â
âBecause youâre here.â
Eren took another step forward so that their chests were pressed together. To a human, being this close to a spirit would freeze them over, but Eren wasnât some silly, weak human. The slight chill was a breath of fresh air compared to the overwhelming heat of the Underworld. It was comforting and peaceful, just another treasured thing about Levi that made Eren want him more.
âThat shouldnât matter,â Levi retorted emotionlessly, but Eren could see the longing lingering in his stormy gaze as his eyes flickered to his lips. âIâm just a ghost, Eren. I canât offer you anything. Iâm already beginning to fade.â
Erenâs heart clenched against his ribs, his shining eyes widening in disbelief. âWhat⌠What do you mean youâre fading?!â
Levi looked away, turning his back to Eren so he couldnât read the emotions raging through his eyes, showing all over his face. In the way his lips twitched and his throat tensed; the way his irises burned with fear and reluctance.
âI mean what I said, Eren. Iâm fading. I wonât go to be judged in the Underworld, Iâll simply stop existing. You know how it works.â Levi explained slowly, his words clipped. âIâve waited too long. I donât have much longer here.â
Erenâs heart was doing somersaults in his chest. All he wanted to do was wrap his arms around Leviâs waist to hold him forever, but he had made a deal. He promised Levi that he wouldnât try to seduce him, so he wouldnât do anything to make him even think that he was breaking that. âI may know of a way to keep you here. If you wanted.â Eren didnât have to explain further, Levi already knew what he was talking about.
âWould you even want to?â Levi asked, his voice softer now. âI donât want to make you do something you donât want to do.â
âI donât make these offers just to be nice, Levi.â Eren said cooly, taking a step towards Levi and reaching out to take his hand. âI never said I didnât want to. I want you here. I want to be here with you. Why is that so hard to understand?â
âBecause youâre a demon.â Levi scoffed, but there was no distrust in his voice. He knew Eren was being honest with him, but it was just too incomprehensible. Why would a demon, someone with the world and all its treasures at their fingertips, want to stay with a ghost, someone incapable of giving anything back? âThereâs no life for you here, Eren.â
Eren snorted at that, rolling beautiful green eyes. âYou could say thereâs no life for me in the Underworld either.â
Levi wasnât letting this go so easily. âYou have a purpose there. Thereâs nothing for you here. You need to do whatâs best for you.â
âI need you, though.â Eren shot back, gripping Leviâs shoulders to turn him around so that they were facing one another again. âYou donât get to tell me what I need. You donât get to make my decisions for me. I want you. I want to be here with you.â
Leviâs eyes flickered down to Erenâs lips again, grey irises shimmering in the golden glow of the sunlight. âAnd you always get what you want, donât you, Eren?â he asked teasingly, the smallest hint of a smile tugging at his lips.
Erenâs own grin returned tenfold as he winked smugly. âOf course I do. Now, what dâya say we make another deal?â
Leviâs arms went to wrap around Erenâs shoulders, leaning his ghostly body in so that they were mere centimeters apart. âFine. Turn me into a demon, Eren. In return, you can keep me always. For as long as youâll want me.â
âSo, forever then?â
âForever.â

Oml, Mama Soap. Something happened here and I hope you like it. Iâve been sitting on this idea for a while, and you gave me the motivation to write it. I thank you sincerely, from the bottom of my heart. I really hope you like this. <3
I was gonna make it smutty but itâs already over 1k, so I had to stop here.
Phantom Deals
Silver moonlight pooled through the tattered curtains of what was left of the stained and shattered windows, beckoning Leviâs spirit to rise with the twinkling stars. With soundless steps, the phantom walked the vacant halls of his crumbling, timeworn home. The tall marble pillars were covered in a layer of dirt and grime, the paint chipping from the walls to fall to the filthy floor like leaves during autumn, ghostly white sheets clinging to cover the once ornate furniture like the costumes of children during Halloween.
âThe state of itâŚâ Levi grumbled hollowly, but his face twisted in disgust. âThe only rotten thing about being dead. I canât clean a damn thing.â
But Levi knew that wasnât the only rotten thing.
It was a lonely existence, this life after death. Dull. Silent. At first, Levi had been glad to find how quiet death was. But after decadesâcenturiesâit had become far too quiet for his taste. He found himself missing things he once hated when he was alive. Isolation no longer meant peace, it meant aching; craving the interaction of another human being, yearning for conversation.
His friends had all passed by now, but they had moved on. Had found something better than this life, had felt that their lives were full and complete enough to leave it. But Levi didnât. He couldnât. There was something in this life he hadnât found yet that he felt he should stay behind for.
Which is why he was now trapped in this obscenely unclean hellhole.
Levi sighed dismally as he recollected that fateful night, but was startled out of his thoughts when there was a clattering noise at the front of the house. It was the door. Someone was breaking in, or at least trying to.
His form swept through the shadows, staying out of sight when he came upon the intruder standing in the foyer. The strangerâs clothes were tousled and dirty, like he had laid on the damp earth and rolled around for a few hours. His short hair was chestnut brown, windblown and wild, and Levi could tell it echoed in the manâs spirit. When bright teal eyes turned towards him, he froze and buried himself further into the darkest corner of the room.
âIs someone there?â
The deep tenor of his voice would have shook Levi to his bones in his living days. Hell, just the color of those eyes were enough to have his fingers trembling. Like a watercolor painting of the ocean at sunset, he thought to himself, his throat feeling dry.
But Levi shook his thoughts away, regaining his stoic composure. He didnât answer the man, only stayed in the shadows and waited for his next move. Loud sirens raged from the streets outside, making the strange intruder duck away from the windows. Flashing blue and red lights moved sluggishly by the monumental home, stopped for a moment to sweep a glaring white light over the estate, and went by again.
The bright-eyed man relaxed in relief when the police car drove past, his shoulders slumping in exhaustion. In the silvery moonlight, Levi could see the dewy sweat covering him in a thin sheen, like he had been running for hours. He found himself leaning forward, if only slightly, forcing his hand to stay at his side when he all he wanted to do was wipe the sweat from the strange intruderâs brow.
âI can hear you breathing.â the man spoke again, calm and unwavering, but very much on guard. âAre you a squater or a ghost?â
Leviâs head tilted slightly in confusion. What on earth was a squater? And why wasnât this man scared of the possibility of him being a ghost? This man was confusing, but there was no point in hiding from him now. âWhat if I am neither?â
The brunet chuckled, his eyes following the sound of Leviâs voice in the darkness. âYouâre definitely a ghost. Youâre trying to be too sneaky and vague.â With a groan, he pushed himself up to his feet and suddenly Levi felt very afraid.
He smells like sulfur.
âYouâre a demon.â Levi stated plainly, retreating further into the shadows in attempt to evade the eyes that had seen him the whole time.
âI am,â the demon smiled and Levi melted, yet another form of proof of the manâs being. Of course Levi was so taken with his beauty, he was a Lure. A Collector. A demon created to seduce and drag wayward souls to Hell. Or devour them. âIâm not here for you, if thatâs what youâre thinking. Though you are deliciously beautiful.â
Levi suck in a tight breath when the demon smirked at him. He felt as if he were alive again, tangible and whole. His knees were shaking, his will falling prey to the strangerâs gorgeous green and gold irises. But Levi knew what was going to happen if he gave in, and yet he found himself unable to care. âIf youâre not here for me, Collector, then why are you here?â
Levi was surprised to see the demonâs face soften and almost reached out to touch him, but startled and jerked back when he realized his error.
âYou can call me Eren. I donât really like that title. It causes too much trouble.â The demon, Eren, raked his eyes over Leviâs body, making the ghost shiver. âIâm here because I needed a place to hide.â
Levi had so many questions, but the way Erenâs tongue darted out to lick his lips had nearly rendered him speechless. âYou⌠Youâre really not here for me?â
Eren shook his head, seeming sincere. âNot unless you want me to be.â he winked, and Levi felt heat pooling in the pit of his stomach.
Levi thought for a moment, and slowly stepped from the shadows and into the light next to Eren. Why? He simply couldnât help himself. âAlright. You can hide out here as long as you want, but I have a few rules.â
Eren rolled his eyes, but grinned, waiting patiently for Levi to continue.
âOne, you are not to seduce, devour, or bring me to Hell. If youâre truly not here to harm me, this should be easy for you to follow.â Levi said confidently, and Eren nodded in agreement. âTwo, you can stay on the bottom floor, the top is mine.â
Eren shook his head suddenly, pouting with his perfectly pink lips. âIâm more of a top.â
Levi ignored his innuendo and kept going. âThree, you have to clean the entire house.â
Eren blinked at Levi, turning towards the door like he was about to leave. âIâm not doing this. Iâll find a house without any demanding spirits.â
As soon as the door was cracked open, Levi waved his hand to slam it shut, jamming it completely. He hurried over and grabbed Erenâs hand, shaking it wildly. âToo late. We have a deal.â Though he knew that shaking hands wasnât the custom to making a deal with a devil.
With blinding speed, Eren pulled him close and practically smashed their lips together, kissing Levi with the passionate fury of the sun. Erenâs tongue swiped across Leviâs lips, and Levi couldnât stop himself from opening himself up for him. The kiss went on for much longer than it should have, all teeth and tongue and longing and perfect.
Levi found what he had been waiting centuries for.
Eren pulled away, smirking and panting as Levi tried to lean back in for more. âNow we have a deal.â
