also apparently shine super brothers s2 has been out and mom hasn’t bothered watching it bc she’s heard it’s not good despite pulling in really big names so we’re watching a playlist of the performances and they suck so bad there’s no camp there’s no theatricality the men wear suits all the time at least s1 knew how to put on a spectacle. even if that spectacle was evil clown reggae dubstep. THEY’RE JUST WEARING SUITS!!! if you’re just here to look cool go put on a concert you losers

so mom’s actually thinking of dropping shine super brothers which is absolutely astonishing considering how generous she is to these men and their performances BUT. ok this needs context, the main judge for s1 was a trans woman who is a famous dancer, she’s pretty high profile from what I know. anyway she *was* in s2 (she shows up in the trailer) but she’s been completely edited out from all episodes out of s2 so far, which apparently makes the editing a complete train wreck (this is why mom’s thinking of dropping it) and THE RUMOR IS she got banned from s2 because she was too honest and wouldn’t cooperate with fixing the show (bc you know how all cn celebrity competition/variety shows are fixed) (they have like, how many eps they’re set to appear in their contracts I’m p sure). and from what I saw in s1 that tracks bc she was REALLY honest. she loved bullying those men. jin xing come back

sidenote I’m apparently training mom to guess background when she doesn’t know a guy bc of all the times I’ve been going like. oh that guy’s totally from an idol group, you can tell because he’s playing to the audience and he can dance. that guy’s definitely singer only, good emotion but his movements are pretty restrained. that guy’s an actor because actor’s are always looking for opportunities to cry.

oh my god this is hysterical they just ran through, like, fifteen seconds of four performances without even introducing the guy. not even the interview segments, and these shows love interview segments. phenomenal editing.
