Hey there, Internet! We’re sorry to say there’s no Jem Jam episode this weekend, thanks to some scheduling conflicts around our most recent recording session.

So instead of an episode, we’d like to present the truly awful PowerPoint presentation we made for our GeekGirlCon panel. If you have PowerPoint installed on your machine, we recommend downloading it and playing it as a slideshow for the full experience. Kit worked very hard on those tacky slide transitions.

Geek Girl Con Vendor Feature #7: Studio Catawampus

Last but not least from the Geek Girl Con exhibition hall is Studio Catawampus (aka Rebecca Flaum), an artist and illustrator based in Portland. Rebecca’s designs aren’t strictly startorial, but her outfit when I met her surely was! 

Her work is full of whimsy (see the sciencing crow and otter above!) and she throws in some fan art too every now and then. I left Seattle with her beautiful renditions of Princess Leia, Uhura, and Dale Cooper that open this post.

You can find all her original work for sale on Etsy and if you run across her at a Con, you’re bound to see the fan art of which I speak. 

Geek Girl Con Vendor Feature #6: Valentine Barker

This poster stopped me in my tracks while walking around the exhibition hall at Geek Girl Con earlier this month. I’m already a huge fan of Dr. Mae Jemison, the first African-American woman in space, but I never tire of seeing her image used to help young girls, especially young girls of color, dream big. 

This design is by Valentine Barker (aka Chalky Hearts on Society6) and comes in a range of sizes and framing options. I’ve already got plants to display mine prominently in my office.

Geek Girl Con Vendor Feature #5: Unicorn Empire 

Amber Whitney is the creative force behind these fabulous designs. Many are available as tees, hoodies, onesies, and tote bags. I walked away from GGC with two tees, but what I really wanted was to buy the place out. ;)
