Difficulty w/ Barre Chords Pt.2
Difficulty with Barr chords part2: Question: "How do I improve my technic/ability to play barre chords? My small hands never seem to get all strings to ring true. Especially at the first fret/nut" Answers: irst you have to practice regularly to build the muscles so that the index finger is straight from the first joint (knuckle). Also, a slight internal rotation of the forearm brings the index to it side where it is harder (bony and less fleshy) and without the grooves of the joint. All this should be done a little at a time to avoid injuries. 5 minutes a day, everyday, always monitoring the tension. If there's any pain stop and resume next day. At first i would practice on the 5th fret until you develop strenghth, then start moving down towards the first fret. Have your guitar checked by a professional for proper set-up which will make sure you have proper string height and tension.
Having difficulty playing Barre Chords on Guitar?
Playing Barre chords can tricky and downright frustrating. Which is why so many players avoid them at all cost. You press down on all the strings till your fingers seem to burst and still some of the strings are mute. There's one word that gives the solution - practice. It seems impossible at first, with no warning, and when you'll least expect it, you'll play the cleanest barre chord you've ever played. It's all about practice and patience. Do the barre chord slowly, checking each string, making sure you get a clean sound from every one of them. Another critical component is to work daily on strengthening and conditioning the hands. Isometric exercises for the hand help reduce muscle fatigue. Use a good teacher who can help you through the finger placement and transitions.
