Kero Blaster was released back in May 2014, but was originally scheduled for an earlier release in 2013. This earlier version of the game (called Gero Blaster) was almost completely different from the game we ended up getting, with the enemies, locations, and story being completely different. It appears to have centered on an alien invasion, with the protagonists’ cat-girlfriend being kidnapped. It’s worth pointing out the frog-hero and his cat-girlfriend are based on characters from a manga that creator Daisuke Amaya made while in College. 

This wouldn’t be the first time that Daisuke Amaya had a nearly complete version of a game, only to scrap it and remake from scratch. Cave Story had a beta version that was significantly different from the finished game, both gameplay and storywise. 

So I tried to make a cover of the trailer music used in the really old trailer for Gero Blaster (which is now known as Kero Blaster).  It's a really nice little song.

PAX East 2014: Hands-on: Kero Blaster

I imagine the people most interested in Kero Blaster know what to expect. Based on the footage from the first trailer revealed shortly before PAX East 2014 began, one could potentially think–it’s another 2D action game from Pixel. And it looks great! Kero Blaster out May 11 ⊟

Drop what you're doing and watch this. It's the first trailer in a year for Kero Blaster, the new game from one-man Cave Story studio Pixel, and it's looking hot.

There's so much going on! It seems so much denser than Cave Story, but the music, graphics, and character movement all seem reminiscent. And, of course, the weapons.

This is being published in North America by Playism, on PC and iOS. It'll be out May 11! So soon! Last year, Nicalis was teasing a 3DS version as well, but there's no announcement of that today. Via Siliconera.

The Long Delayed Kero Blaster Has May Release - Again

Kero Blaster, formerly Gero Blaster, is coming to Windows PC and iOS on May 11th. A finalized date is good news, as the title has taken its time to come to fruition. So delayed in fact, they were talking about a May release last year.

The game stars Kaeru, a frog who is heavily armed with some intense weaponry. Similar to the Muppets, this frog is also in love with an unlikely companion. In fact, Kaeru is attempting to rescue his feline girlfriend. The developer, Studio Pixel, has added some improvements since the original May planned release date.

Playism has also got involved, which is likely the catalyst that will lead to the PC release. If you want an early look at the game, Kero Blaster is supposed to be showcased at next week’s PAX East Conference. In the mean time, here is the trailer for Kero Blaster.
