As someone whoâs not a fan of the books or games I really liked this season. I think itâs really better than the first one, the actors gave 110%, one note characters were made very interesting this season etc etc. But the no.1 reason I watched this season was my meta level interest in what theyâd do with geraskier after the reaction to them in s1. And it proved to be kinda interesting and not what I expected.Â
So this season has very little scenes between jaskier and geralt but this could be partially due to the plot, there were a lot of things happening this season and a lot of it was concentrating on yen and ciri. But when we did get geraskier scenes they werenât âtoned downâ at all imo. I hear the showrunner said theyâre just friends but I dont believe it for a second. Showrunners constantly lie in interviews, and if she did intend for there to be maybe one-sided geraskier then itâs unclear how much sheâd be able to talk about it in intereviews. If she's really adamant that geraskier is just platonic and this season was course-correction on her part to discourage ppl from shipping it or whatever, then why follow up on jaskierâs storyline from the previous season? yâknow, the thing that made ppl ship it in the first place? Like how is âburn butcher burnâ, âit did come from the heart, perhaps a broken oneâ or shirtless jaskier complementing geraltâs abs âââtoning it downâââ in comparison to the first season? even the short apology that makes it clear that jasierâs still hurt is better than nothing at all, which is often how relationships that become popular gay ships end up being treated in canon. S1 just had more of those scenes but iâd imagine if the showrunner really wanted to tone things down sheâd know by now that shirtless jask takling about geraltâs abs, even if jokingly, wasnât gonna do it lol.Â
Idk whatâs happening in Laurenâs head or what sheâs planning (ig outside of the fact that this season firmly comfirms that sheâs willing to change the original text quite drastically) but iâm again intrigued. Like, so far she didnât drop jaskierâs emotional storyline and if sheâs telling the truth about geraskier being platonic in her mind (very unlikely imo) then how is she gonna follow it up in next season? whatâs gonna be the thing that pleases jakier? how will it stem from his character and his issues that were established so far? cos the problem here is that thereâs little to jaskierâs character that isnât connected to geralt: his job, his relationships with yen and ciri, his role in the plot, so if heâs not in love with geralt then how are they gonna explain his actions so far?
My predictions for the next season are the same I had for this season: or theâre actually gonna axe the relationship completely (the option that leaves a bad taste in your mouth) or weâll get more of the same until the development culminates in a reveal in the last season or smth, itâs probs gonna be one-sided but in the end the bi survives and the heteros die (the option thatâs not super satisfying to anyone but at least itâs not the offensive kind of representation).
No one else hesitated to comment on the quality of my performance, except⌠for you.
Jaskier breaking the 4th wall.
is no one gonna talk about this? he looks so shocked, and he doesnât blink once

maybe iâm giving Lauren Hissrich too much credit since i donât know her personally, but sometimes i watch the witcher series and am completely convinced that at the very least jaskier being in love with geralt will absolutely be made canon
So I was thinking about the possibility of geraskier becoming canon in the future seasons and i figured the showrunners could make geraskier not explicit but not denied either, cos in the books Yen and Geralt die in the end, so what if Geraltâs feelings toward Yen and Jaskier are left vague by that point, like he clearly cares about them but the exact nature of those feelings is kinda up for speculation, so that itâs not an outright deviation and rejection of Geralt/Yennefer but it also follows up on all the clues about Jaskierâs crush on Geralt. The last thing Geralt could say to Jaskier could be like âremember all those times you wanted to go away with me? that sounds lovely but such life was never destined for me, take Ciri to the coastâ and then Geralt and Yen go on to sacrifice themselves to save the world or whatever, ending their miserable and immortal lives and giving their death a meaning, a la Rogue One, where they die together but no kissing, while Ciri and Jaskier go on to live a normal human lifespan, Jaskier is never rejected, Geralt died a necessary sacrificial death so that Ciri and Jaskier could live, and takes care of Geraltâs adopted daughter for the rest of his days, Ciri survives and wins/takes back the throne/fulfills a prophecy or whatever but loses her parents, a bittersweet ending for everyone involved
