The Archaeologist's Wife: Chapter 5 (AO3 Update)
Another update in Gerald Robotnik's love story with Maria's late grandmother š They start exploration in the Mystic Ruins!!
"Her whole life up until this point had set her up to be one thing: a lower-class metalworkerās wife destined to spend her days kneading bread for extra pennies, never to leave Saint Petersburg.Ā Constantly wondering what else in the world was out there, but never to experience such wonders for herself.Ā But ever since Geranya had quite literally stumbled into her life, her closed door of possibilities had been blasted wide open, and now she was oceans away uncovering treasures that had not been disturbed for thousands of years, on the precipice of a life she had not known she could even dream for."
(As a side thing, I am doing a lot of cross-posting on Dreamwidth if you'd like to see me there too. I find it a much quieter and calmer place than many other social media sites).

Summary:
Before he was world-renowned roboticist and bioengineer Gerald Robotnik, he was Gerasim Ivanovich Robotnik, a slightly off-kilter freelance archaeologist with "ancient alien conspiracy theories" and shifty familial ties. When a chance encounter brings quick-witted and beautiful Marina Morozova literally bumping into him at her mother's bakery, the two fall in love hard and fast. Their non-traditional relationship throws propriety to the wall and burns the two of them onward, leading Gerasim to make a breakthrough in research that makes it seem like the couple will be the pride of the Robotnik Empire. That is, until he finds himself in a desperate bid to save her life from a mysterious and sudden illness that claims her after the birth of their first child.
History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme.
