Gerald, his wife, and their team of explorers dive deep into the depths of the Mystic Ruins, uncovering the secrets of Chaos that lie within....

“It’s funny,” she said. “I know I’ve seen it. You’ve shown me the pictures. All of you never shut up about it.  But seeing it here…”  Gerasim watched as her eyes wavered across the image with not a single shred of fear. Rather, her bright blue irises sparkled with admiration and wonder.  Even though it seemed that her husband and his predecessors were not on the heroes’ side of this story, it was something magnificent just to be someone. To have a story to tell–something notable enough, even, to be carved into a wall, and remain untouched for thousands of years.  “You really are a part of something.”

When a chance encounter brings quick-witted and beautiful Marina Morozova literally bumping into him at her mother's bakery, the two fall in love hard and fast. Their non-traditional relationship throws propriety to the wall and burns the two of them onward, leading Gerasim to make a breakthrough in research that makes it seem like the couple will be the pride of the Robotnik Empire. That is, until he finds himself in a desperate bid to save her life from a mysterious and sudden illness that claims her after the birth of their first child.

"It’s exciting. I’m very happy for you,” she said.  Her lie felt half-baked, even if it was objectively true, so she tacked on only part of what she held between the lines:  “But it’s a long journey.” "A couple of months, maybe half a year at least.” "And it’s for business, so probably no chance of taking a woman along.” “Yes, unfortunately, only wives are allowed.” Marina turned her head up at him, confused. He was staring at her expectantly, waiting for her reply.  But Marina was so focused on staring up at him (which was admittedly, a fair height), with the gears in her mind cranking overtime trying to decipher what on earth he could mean, that she missed the tiny satin-lined box he had unceremoniously opened to her. Wrote yet another story about a woman omitted from the narrative - this time, Gerald Robotnik’s wife, Maria and Ivo’s grandmother, who must have existed, but whom has never been mentioned so far in anything.

What if Gerald’s obsession with curing Maria ran much, much deeper? What if there were even more reasons he ended up so estranged from his sons? What if this wasn’t his first encounter with NIDS?
