Tarika Wilson was shot to death while holding her 1 year old baby in her arms. Officers broke into the home looking for her boyfriend. Within moments, one officer made his way partially up the stairs before firing on Tarika who, according to autopsy reports, was leaning forward in surrender or trying to place her baby down in a safer place. The fatal shot was to the neck (as indicated by the symbol.) Her baby was also shot multiple times, but survived the attack. Read more.

Yvette Smith, cancer survivor,  was shot to death in her home after answering the door for officers. Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call. After shooting her in the abdomen (indicated by the symbol below her image), officers issued a statement that she came to the door with a weapon. No weapon was recovered. We know the story. Michael Brown was walking in the street of his neighborhood, almost home when he was harassed by officer Darren Wilson and ordered to get out of the street. After the officer initiated an altercation from his SUV, Mike Brown struggled away and began to run away in fear. His body was riddled with bullets as he ran, then tried to surrender with his hands in the air. The surrender did not save him. Police left him dead and uncovered in the middle of the street for hours, bleeding out for everyone to see. We are still awaiting the officer's indictment. Read here for an update on the case.

Kathryn Johnston was in her home when it was broken into by Atlanta police. The police had gained a search warrant using a fake informant and stormed Kathryn's home. In response, the woman, fearing for her safety met the intruders with a revolver, failing to hit any of the officers. They opened fire, fatally wounding her, and injuring one another. The officers then proceeded to cover for their killing of an innocent elder, handcuffing her and leaving her to die while they planted marijuana in her basement to justify the raid. Read more here.
