so, Derek is low key kinda super smart. like, higher IQ than Lydia, but with a knack for different subjects (she of course has realized that hes smarter than he lets on, but doesnt know just how smart). He speaks and writes several languages fluently, knows his supernatural Ps and Qs, and is a history buff. he is also wildly competent when it comes to business (economics, finance, real estate, management, accounting, etc) and money, and is actually quite wealthy, but has no real drive to do anything with his money or intelligence when we see him in the show, and instead just lives off his insurance money/trust fund.
