The Lord entertains Abraham
What I find challenging here and also interesting is that Abraham is making deals with God. God was supposed to destroy Sodom, but He said,
“If I find at Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”
But after hearing 50, Abraham started questioning and in some way cutting a deal with the Lord. Got to keep in mind that Abraham knew that Lot and his family is over there. And if God is going destroy it, again, Abraham was placed in a situation where his family’s safety is out of his control. The reason is because of sin. But yet, God knows that Abraham’s family is there and He knows that Abraham will be the father of many nations, so God shared His plans with Abraham.
The relationship of Abraham and God is very unique, it kinda feel like it’s like they are long old friends, joking, encourage and talking about this that is hard in their heart.
God’s character is really unique. He has this side where He never change, He is the creator and also the Father that is Holy and close to us at the same time, He can be so funny and friendly with His people.
No other idols has this kind of relationship with their creation.
