Facts for Mirrodin and Hades
Mirrodin
- A favourite negotiation technique Mirrodin and Valus have developed when hashing things out with other crime lords: Valus is in the meeting room with them, either in person or via holo-communication, and he acts like he’s on the ropes. Then Mirrodin comes in with a datapad, speaks quietly to Valus, and then leaves, apparently giving Valus new information he can bargain with. It’s a power play to show that there isn’t anything that can be hidden from the two of them.
- Interestingly, this started because Mirrodin did it on his own a few times before he and Valus were together. He gave Valus a few more bargaining chips than he expected to have. Since then they take even more time to prepare for meetings such as those and use it often to keep their rivals on edge.
- Mirrodin has a habit of humming songs that get stuck in his head, even when he’s on the command deck. This usually leads to Valus getting them stuck in his head too, much to his chagrin.
- Most of the security systems installed in the ships of Valus’ fleet were refurbished and upgraded by Mirrodin when he joined the crew. He made it a point of doing most of the work himself, even if it meant crawling all over each ship to make sure everything was fitted properly.
- At all times Mirrodin has at least one or two bags of animal treats in case he meets an animal on his travels and wants to befriend it.
- Something else he keeps on him is a small black case containing disposable syringes and ready-made vials of a strong, fast acting sedative. These are to be used when Mirrodin loses control of his biotics and needs to be knocked out quickly. So far only one has been used.
- Mirrodin has such a liking for Tupari energy drink that he is rationed to only one can a week or he would glug the stuff without any compunction.
- When Mirrodin goes shopping on Illium the main things he looks for are clothes which are both stylish and yet functional. Things which he hasn’t seen before yet fit into the aesthetic he’s already built for himself. Also the more belts the better.
- Mirrodin likes to keep up to date with news from Citadel space and frequently looks up news websites on the extranet for this. When not doing that he like watching music videos, cooking tutorials, animal vids, fail videos and the odd let’s play, usually of either RPGs or puzzle games.
- Myr has become so used to the hummingbirds that have taken up home on the Talon that he doesn’t even react if one lands on him for a rest. On his terminal, his shoulder, his head, he just keeps on doing what he’s doing until it flies off again.
Hades
- Hades' style of combat is about distance and delay. He's about preventing foes from getting close to him and keeping his own defences up; using his barriers and shields while his biotics keep them at bay, and he uses a shotgun to highlight that getting close is not a good idea.
- Keeping that in mind, he's trained in hand to hand as well and has an edge with it others might not expect since he's learned to compensate and listen out for how his opponent is moving. And of course he's got his gadgets and sensors to help him out as well.
- Hades has a pretty strong immune system but when he does get sick it tends to shut him down a bit harder then he would want it to. With his senses dulled he can’t afford to take risks he would otherwise be alright in taking. That being the case he tends to stay in rather than just getting on with it, which he would much prefer to do.
- Hades is rather fond of pale ales, one brand being Kerlas that is a particular favourite. He’s always glad to find it when he’s away from the Citadel, though Omega isn’t usually a place that has it.
- Hades always has his spare room made up on the off chance someone he knows needs space to crash. His couch also can fold out into a bed in case multiple people need to crash at the same time. Hades likes being someone people can go to if they need help with something like that.
- One Halloween he dressed as a pirate and wore two eyepatches just because he could. He looked amazing.
- Even though Hades doesn’t smoke, when he, Nok and Valus have a night where they hang out and chill they usually end up drinking fine spirits and smoking the odd cigar or two. Hades prefers the smell of cigars to cigarettes by far.
- On that note, Hades likes to keep the empty bottles of good whisky he keeps for special occasions. He has a couple of shelves of them and they’re good reminders of why they were opened. All Hades has to do is open the bottle and the scent takes him back to the moment.
- Something Hades always appreciates is the way fresh air feels different on a planet than on a space station. It’s also why as much as he works there he could never call Omega a true home. The air would just get to him too much after a while.
- When working out Hades keeps every part of his body in tip-top condition. He has various weights and lifting equipment in his room, he has a treadmill, and if he needs to he goes down to a local gym to use the equipment there. Hades knows that he’s in a career which requires him to be at the top of his game at all times and he can’t afford to be lax about that.
