I'm so tired of "Heritage". It's Shamrock this and history of racist flag 4547 or something (oops those numbers came up their own)
Why can't we have an event that celebrates Native Americans in our population or Hispanic Americans that wonderfully support our towns growth. How come we aren't talking about more of their culture and sharing in festivities unless its a backyard barbecue, vendor food where we're unhappy smaller towns came unauthorized to support (to some permit measures understandably), and their beer. We barely welcome their music but I think we should plan something that honors their labors, their contribution to our American towns too, as they are patriotic. We need to celebrate them in a time when their families are threatened. This is cosmetic and blanket support rather than fixing underlying issues in our community, but I'd like to have something to uplift my family and my neighbors.
We deserve more events that celebrate Filipino American culture and history too. My education growing up taught me so little that it's embarrassing. I had to learn from my fellow classmates, my family who some are biracial too, and neighbors. We need to uplift every way of life, because it's life and there's so many ways to express its beauty and come together when its difficult.
