BUTCH
Someone who experiences queer masculinity and gender nonconformity. BUTCH Voices posits that âstud, aggressive, macha, dom, tomboi, genderqueer, two-spirit, trans men and trans women who identify as masculine of center and all other similar identitiesâ can identify as butch. Butch has a long history, and itâs important to remember that it is not necessary to identify as a lesbian, be attracted to women, or be explicitly masculine to be butch.
Colour meanings:Â
Purple:Â represents queerness and queer masculinity. Different shades represent the different degrees of masculinity, as masculinity exists on a spectrum. White:Â the butch spectrum, both in a gender sense and a presentation sense. Red:Â represents love for others, love for ourselves, & the history of butches as protectors of the queer community.
