PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS TO GEOLOGY PEOPLE AND CRYSTAL PEOPLE. I NEED HELP.
Please help me properly ID my rocks. I used an app, but I have doubt about some of the results. If you can confirm, correct, or specify any of these, I would greatly appreciate it. 10 photos on OG post and 10 in a reblog.
Chat, does anyone know what type of gem or stone or whatever this is? A friend gifted it to me
Gem/Mineral side of Tumblr, I need help! I found this rock yesterday and I tried a rock ID app but got two different results: Jasper or Chalcedony, but I'm not sure which is more accurate (if either).
Info I have-
Size: 2.16cm height, 3.5 cm length, 3.5 cm width (all taken at biggest measurement)
Base Circumference: 8cm
Weight: 17 g (scale changes as I was typing it)
Opacity: 100% opaque
Scratch test: Couldn't be scratched by Stainless Steal
Thirstiness: Not Thirsty (Little to no Water absorbed after a minute)
Acid Test: No reaction (Done with Lemon Juice, left for 15 minutes)
Fracture: Conchoidal
Finish: Dull
Banded: Yes, Light blue and dark blue around a center line
Steak: Inconclusive (didn't have proper equipment, tried on the bottom of ceramic dishes we had, was white on some—though it could have had none on others)
UV Reactive: Not UV reactive.
Additional information: Found near man made lake with a soil, dust clay, and rock shoreline in Northern California. There were other similar stones everywhere in both the green color and in red. No known volcanic activity in (nearest volcano is 45 miles away, hasn't been active 11,500 years; Mount Lassen is second closest 60 miles away).
Can someone help me ID what kinda agate this is? At least my friend who gave it to me says it’s an agate but I wanna know what kind. The clearer outer parts are kinda purple, it’s hard to see in the photos
