yeah so, it’s actually only a specific few “cophine” shippers who are pulling that assumption shit. i put cophine in quotes because anyone as rude and hateful as those specific “fans” don’t deserve to even be associated with cophine. 

i’ve been talking with @geekspiralling just recently and it’s absolutely crazy how a few bad apples make the whole fandom sour. 

i do agree that assuming ANYONE’S sexuality needs to stop though. like, who evelyne is attracted to is a part of her own private life and should be respected. it’s not something to spectate like a sporting event. it’s not something scream about proudly on social media. i was outed by a couple of “friends” back in 8th grade before i even really realized i was gay and i felt so fucking awful when that shit spread around my school. i realize that this is obviously not the same circumstance, but the whole talking about someone’s sexuality like it’s OBVIOUSLY their sexuality before the actual /person/ has a chance to come forward and speak for themselves is so so shitty. don’t do that guys. i don’t want to see anyone doing that.

I had an honest moment of questioning the choices I’ve made. I’m a fanfic writer. In my brand of fanfic I derive pride in being able to extrapolate from characterization from canon. I looked at 5x05 Delphine and asked myself if she and AU Delphine are essentially/fundamentally the same person and the answer I arrived at wasn’t definitive for me and suddenly I felt like I didn’t know the character I was writing.

AU Delphine–really, most versions of Delphine I write but especially AU Delphine–talks *so much* and I watched a woman on the screen have to acknowledge tries to run as fast and as far away from the possibility of talking as possible. I know it sounds silly, but I felt kinda lost in my justifications of the choices I made.

I knew in approaching the AU that I wanted to craft the relationship between Shay and Delphine in answer to all the things I wanted for Cosima and Delphine in canon but I wanted that to be an organic difference that would develop not because of personality changes but because of circumstantial changes. But now I’m not sure if maybe what’s occurred is wholesale personality deviation and that suddenly made me uneasy.

What is happening?!? I need this! Society needs this!
