Group Formation
Now that everyone in IGB220 had completed 3 prototypes using gDevelop, we were at the stage where we had to form a group with a few people and begin a second iteration of one of our chosen game prototypes based from assignment 2.
Fullerton said in chapter 12 "when assembling your team, you have to look at each person as an individual and as a potential team member. Examine their track record and make sure to talk with people who have worked with them before. Ask about both their individual performance and how they interact in a team.β I took this into consideration when choosing who would work well with me and had a similar goal. This was important to do as I didnβt want to end up in a group of people that had a completely different mindset and personality that would clash with mine.
Sienna Cowen approached me earlier in the semester asking if I could work with her, I didnt know much about her but when she told me about her work ethic, I knew she would be worth having for whatever game we choose to work on. When we began the process of finding a third and final member, we had chosen one of my friends who also had a great work ethic and was very good at solving problems in gDevelop. However, when he pitched his game, multiple people wanted to make it, so we were happy for him to leave, so he did. That was fine as someone pitched their game to us and really sparked our interest. I had actually playtested this game in week 2 (platformer week) and I was thoroughly impressed. Both Sienna C and I were on the same page and persuaded him to join our group. He mentioned to us that he was willing to join only if we were to make his game, and we were both more than happy to commit to this decision. Jase introduced himself, and we began our plan of action. We discussed what times would work for us for meetings, and whether we wanted to complete this assignment online or in person. We all agreed to have a mix and only come in when it was necessary. We also discussed our strengths, mine of which was gdevelop, Jase was art and music, and Sienna C said writing and investigating. This was a great combination of people who had different strengths and would help us with allocating who did what parts in the assignment.
