while  part  of  her  feels  like  his  anger  is  somewhat  justified  —  at  least  on  the  part  about  her  being  a  coward  —  part  of  her  can’t  help  but  wonder  if  she’s  correct  in  thinking  that  maybe  nothing  good  can  come  out  of  them  giving  this  another  shot.  while  their  time  together  contained  some  of  her  happiest  memories,  their  relationship  was  also  characterised  by  moments  like  this,  where  shouting  and  finger  pointing  were  rampant  and  it  made  her  hate  herself  for  who  she’s  become.  his  last  comment  makes  her  scoff,  though  inside  her  heart  is  breaking.  shaking  her  head  with  disbelief,  she  tries  to  contain  herself  but  fails  miserably  as  her  eyes  redden  with  tears  pathetically.  hands  on  her  hip  as  if  it  would  be  enough  to  anchor  herself,  she  looks  away  for  a  moment  to  recollect  herself  before  her  disbelieving  stare  falls  back  on  him.  “you’re  still  such  an  asshole.”  and  she  means  every  word.  she  hates  everything  about  this,  hates  that  he’s  right,  hates  that  she’s  missed  him  so  much  despite  the  heartache  the  ruins  of  their  relationship  has  caused.  “you  don't get  to  lecture  me  on  how  to  live  my  life  when  you’re  the  one  who  broke  my  heart  first.”  

sea of people congratulating her on the record or coming up to meet her. it was supposed to be a big night for her, but really this was just part of the job. forced smiles and conversations with people who probably wanted something more from her than an autograph. it was kind of exhausting actually. the blonde was mid sip of her champagne when orbs landed on him. " you've got to be kidding me, " brows furrowed as the words muttered, not bothering waiting for him to notice her. heels clicked against the club's floor, stopping just short of his personal space, she crossed her arms. " why are you literally everywhere I go ? " her eyes narrowed as she scanned him. " seriously, are you following me or something ? "

dylan flops down next to the other, pulling up her instagram, "your fans don't like me". she gets up the selfie she'd posted of the two of them, holding out her phone towards them, "you should read some of these comments, they are wild".

the sound of her voice was like background music — familiar, melodic, be he found himself focusing on other things. leaning against the marble table top followed the curve of her lips as she spoke. the change in her expression, the way her mouth moved when she was saying something important, or maybe it wasn't important — he wouldn't know. he should have been listening, really. but how could he when she was stood in front of him, wearing that all too familiar perfume, perfectly glossed lips and.. there was a pause. one of those pauses he was supposed to fill. " sorry yeah, what ? " words automatically filled the space, brows knitted together snapping out of it finally to attempt to focus on what she was actually saying this time.

jealous. icy orbs blinked at the word before it finally settled in -- scoffed laugh and a shake of her head delayed the blonde's reply. " you're funny -- I really don't care what you do. " the more she considered the word, the more her mind wondered if there was some off chance it could be true. whether she wanted it to be or not -- something obviously stuck a chord.

" you look nice. " fin's unusually generous compliment fell out with a bit of an accompanying smirk. " trying to impress me or something ? " he knew it was far from the case, but he also counted on the comment to cause some kind of reaction. that was what they did right ? it was a game that no one could seem to win, but also one he was somehow never completely tired of playing.
