I've read those two anons' messages about minors and i thought i'd mention this.
One thing those two anons forgot to mention about is the argument that those minors (and even adults) use whenever we complain about this. The argument being "oh but you also watched this stuff too when you were younger" as if they're calling us hypocrites for...being concerned about minors' safety?
No, we're not "hypocrites", we just don't want children to make the same mistake that us adults did when we were minors and saying that just, i don't know, it just seems dense and irresponsible as hell. Maybe irresponsible because you're basically saying that it's alright for minors to engage adult content so they could also talk to adults about it.
Adults, who have a clear boundary that states their discomfort about interacting with minors about sexual content.
Preventing minors from consuming it isn't just to prevent them from getting hypersexuality, it's also to prevent them from getting groomed as well, child predators are everywhere around the internet and real life and you would never know until it's too late.
Yes, there's a thing called hormones, it's not something they can control but it's also important to teach them about safety which is something their parents had failed to do so and no, it doesn't mean we should do the teaching either, we're a bunch of strangers.
Unfortunately, i may have figured out why they're this stubborn, most of the time it's because they were horribly harassed and possibly doxxed by other immature adults for consuming adult content (even as far as victim blaming them and worse, triggering their trauma, this happened in another fandom and idk what happened to that minor) that they stopped taking internet safety seriously and refuse to listen to other adults about the warnings.
So unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about it other than block and report them. It's not worth the headache.

Adding onto what that prev anon said about the dread of minors in this fanbase, I find that fear so valid because when I was exposed to this franchise I was at MOST 13 having discovered it through a friend who was around that age too. I remember thinking I was so cool for knowing about these games while all my peers were into ānormal thingsā. Iām 22 now and have rediscovered these games and my morbid love for the characters but the thing is that I know now that I shouldnāt be rediscovering shit. I shouldāve been DISCOVERING it now rather than having been introduced to it in SEVENTH FUCKING GRADE!!! Like yeah no shit everyone else your age was into normal shit girl because youāre barely a teenager you were still playing with dolls two summers ago you should be into normal shit still!! I didnāt realize just how fucked up that was until I was showing my tomodachi island to a young family member and they asked who Lawrence was because he popped up. It was so awkward and gut wrenching when I was like āOh, donāt worry about it you wouldnāt know what heās fromā and they kept asking because of course they did, kids are curious and like to be in the know. Obviously I never explained it but I remember after that I was just reflecting on the fact that I had zero business knowing who any of these characters were at their age!
Minors have zero business being in this fanbase let alone even knowing about it, period. And I wish there were more ways to keep them out and safe while also letting us CONSENTING ADULTS have our fun in peace without having to worry about inadvertently causing kids to discover this franchise. Iām not even going to say that thankfully I was smart and knew not to get involved in anything because I know seeing all that did something to my developing brain even if it doesnāt show. Kids are stupid and can snowball into bad things really easily because they donāt know any better or when to stop.

Seeing minors actively interact with and post about this type of content makes me feel such an immense sense of dread. I wish there was a way to magically erase their memories and make them go do healthy child things instead, but that's just not how it works and it's depressing. I know for a FACT minors shouldn't be interacting with this shit at all, it WILL fuck them up atleast a little bit and even that little bit is too much. I remember originally learning about this franchise when I was 14, and I should absolutely not have been around these spaces then. I'm now 22 and recognize that very clearly. I wish there was a way to completely block this type of content off from minors, but that's sadly not possible. I recall a couple years ago when I was doodling in an online whiteboard website and stumbled across a BTD fan who was not even twelve yet. I fucking plead of parents to take internet safety and what your children see more seriously, especially in this day and age where screens are everywhere.

I think adults who post about minors in the fandom, whetever its a callout post or a screenshot of one's profile are incredibly irresponsible and dont really care for minors safety. Ive seen when large btd accounts on twitter(or other platforms) called out a minor then the minor proceeded to get threats, pdfs and creeps in their dms! i think its really really bad, If you see a minor and you have MDNI in your bio, DONT INTERACT, dont make a post about them, dont put their public account on your bigger account full of adults, block them and move on.
Yes the game CAN be harmful to minors, yes it can disturb their mental health. But a lot of these minors have been throught abusive trauma and are using the game to cope, if it doesnt harm you, or them, block them and move on.
I have to stress exactly what this anon is saying. Yes, minors should not be playing these games or have access to this fandom. Yes, these games and spaces are not good for them. You know what else isn't good for them? Directing abuse their way. Not only is it hurtful, but it's counter productive: when people encounter fierce resistance to what they're doing, they tend to dig their heels in and do that same thing more. You can curate your own experience on this site. If you see an account belonging to a minor, don't engage. Like this anon said, block and move on.

my introduction to btd was unfortunately a play through of a popular local youtuber from my country. you know how it is, unlimited access to the internet and youtubers claiming no responsibility for the content theyre putting up onlineāwhich is understandable, thats not their job but the parents that should be monitoring their childrenābut at the same time like... youre playing āboyfriend to deathā to a majority of young tween audience. still puts a sour taste in my mouth tbh considering that the very same youtuber had done a lot of distasteful thing in hindsight.
