Southern General Open Day
Celia and Heather, Visibility's Patient Support Workers, took a few hours away from their usual base at Gartnavel Hospital on Tuesday, to provide information, advice and support to people attending the eye clinic at the Southern General Hospital.
It was a busy morning with nearly 60 people attending the clinic. There was a range of equipment on display for people to try out from big button phones to talking watches. The thing that delighted everyone though was the colour sensor. This is an ingenious gadget about the size of a TV remote control that tells you the colour of the item you are holding it against. No more leaving the house wearing one blue sock and one black sock if you have one of those.
Visibility does not sell equipment but we have a range on display in our patient support room at Gartnavel Hospital. You can drop in to see either Celia or Heather at Gartnavel any weekday. Just give them a call on 0141 211 6753 to arrange a time. As well as being able to demonstrate equipment they are also there to provide advice and support and be someone to talk to. We also have a variety of equipment on display at our Glasgow office.
