Cats! I stopped to pet 2 cats on the way back from Aldi this morning and it honestly made my entire day :D

heh, tbf I’m not a huge fan of either, but I am a slut for carrot cake

Skiing! Somewhere in the mountain, basically getting up for breakfast at 7am, skiing all morning, having lunch at the top of a mountain with hot chocolate and gluwein, and then skiing all afternoon, going swimming late afternoon and then having dinner I miss it so much, but hopefully will get to go in February!

I used to be adamant on winter being my fave but English winters are just sad and wet so I amend my preference of winter to *snowy* winters. Otherwise I like summer, I enjoy being warm :P

Sitting around in the SU bar with my friends feeling a bit tipsy but happy because I’ve found a group of people who I can rely on no matter what ✨

On a scale from 1 to 10 how sensitive are your lab scales?

I’ve been very good at not doing experiments that require using lab scales for a while, but I’d say our usual scales in the undergrad lab are pretty standard so 5/10. I’m sure that there are much better ones hidden around in the department for people who actually need to measure things accurately.

Favourite female scientists? 

Probably a bit cliche but I really like Emmy Noether because Noether’s theorem is really amazing. It’s something I’ve known about for a while, but I studied it properly in analytical mechanics last term and she must have really been something to actually prove her theorem.

How much science is too much science?

Guess who has had their blog for literally 2 years and just now realized that I never clicked the button to open up my asks this is fine 

2) What made you choose your major/field?

So I’m majoring in astronomy, and ever since I was a little kid I loved space, like when I was 5 I got a telescope for christmas and spent literal hours staring at the moon. I never seriously got into it though until I was doing Science Olympiad in high school and did some research and was like??? You can actually major in astronomy?? And study it professionally?? So I chose my major like sophomore year of high school and I’m now starting my third year studying it in college so that’s pretty neat.

21) If you had infinite funding, what would your research be about?

Not quite research but I would start starfleet lol (or at least funds for long term space travel in order to send scientists to other planets so we can perform tests ourselves and not just rely on probes/rovers) (I just wanna go to mars tbh)

45) Favorite Dinosaur? Fossil? Whatever...

My favorite fossil is the Petoskey Stone (Michigan native 4 lyfe wow)

What’s something you wish you could write an essay on?

I don’t really do essays as part of my degree, most of my units are graded purely in exams. I quite enjoyed writing a news and views article for biophysics, so something like that would be nice, though I don’t think it’d work that well for the units I’m taking at the moment.

What is your favourite type of homework?

As a UK university student studying physics, seriously any kind of homework would be amazing. I think at uni, my favourite “homework” was these problems we handed in each week for core physics in first year. They got marked and collectively made up 20% of our final grade in the unit, which just took some of the pressure off of the final exam for once.

If money, distance, or admissions weren’t issues, where would you go to university?
