Plan for next 3d framework
I always believe that game engine or so called game framework will help us faster and better develop the game. It makes us focus more on the content and creativity to be put in the game rather than the wheel supporting it.
I would like to call it game framework rather game engine, as the word "engine" included in the statement makes it really complete and full of features of the product rather one person could even make it. Anyway these two words can be used interchangeably. Let's continue our story.
One game created from scratch could be finished far later than the game that is already supported by the stable framework.
Many ideas come and go, if they come but the game framework is not yet there ready to code the game that kind of ideas may need to be postponed or cancelled as the time goes things will be less solid and less affirmation. So having such a firm and solid game framework today, we will feel like we have something in our hands ready to do things, ready to put creativity into real works.
Now it's come to my story. I have planned to start develop a new 3D game engine by early in the next month. The following is the initial plan for features to be added at the first stage.
Latest rendering technique including lighting, smooth shadowing (for small and wide area), cloud generator, dynamic day time.
That should be enough for the early development plan. One stuff I focus here is its first one, rendering technique. I founded it very amazing to show things on the screen with quality equally to the top-notch games out there in the market.
Another part I never drop it from the list is ability to render 2D graphics and 2D UI on top of the game. So far I have developed and experience with 2D stuff, it must be included in the next framework for sure.
I have no name set for it just yet.
Who know ? Maybe I will get a weird name once again.
