Happy New Year everyone! I know I’m 7 days late lol.

First off, my sis is doing well now! She has recovered from whatever illness it is she caught randomly. She unfortunately kinda just had to weather it out though... But she’s better now!

Now then on to plans!

I apologize for the the long silence between updates. While I can’t entirely promise that it will no longer be a factor, I promise I’ll try to better with updating so you guys can get more content ^^ (and so I can move the plot faster lol)

Monthly Game Dev Gauntlet Challenge!

This year I plan to attempt to do a monthly game making challenge. I will attempt to make at least one game per month of 2019. I am not an expert in this field, but I really want to get into game making. And I thought this would be sort of a fun challenge to get my gears moving, and finally make an actual finished product.

I plan on doing some more art in general just for the sake of enjoying art and making content. I will attempt to post more often even if it’s just doodles or something. I will also try to do more fan works, because I kinda miss doing fan art and stuff. I might do more, but for now I will keep to myself in case they don’t fall through ^^’

Hey guys. So I thought I’d give an update and confession a bit on the status of my Game making gauntlet challenge...

I of course was a naive fool to take on such a feat without having much experience in the field. And as such I have run into numerous issues. Even with simple idea games, making assets took time. And when “programming” the game I encountered numerous bugs and stuff. On top of that I still had to go to work, do commissions, and work on my own projects like Summer Can DO It! and such.. I did not think this through, and after this rough first month. Looking ahead into the future I have reached a decision regarding this challenge...

Instead of making a game every single month this year, I have decided to reduce the stress and workload to a game every OTHER month instead. So I can allow myself to have two months to work on a game. Basically cutting my workload in half from 12 games to 6 by the end of the year.

Here’s to hoping I can get this workload done lol!

Keep in mind though, it doesnt necessarily mean the games I will be working on will be all that great ^^’. (It took years for other game makers to make great games that were still pretty short)

That’s all for now! I’ll try to get back to working on art and stuff.

Day 2 was mainly focusing on games that I need to research for elements, mechanics and style choices.

The first game is the one that first helped me with thinking up this game project: Chase HQ 2.

While playing it at the gaming event Insomnia 63, it provided a fast-paced action chase with small and simple cutscenes to keep up with the pace. While I only played a small part of it, I watched someone have enough £1 coins to play it until the end, and it definitely seemed worth it.

The second game that came to mind was a popular driving & racing franchise that was remastered a year ago, Burnout Paradise.

The Burnout series (at least from the 3rd game) has provided a very well-designed style of tricking the player's brain into thinking they're going faster than they think, with blur effects in the background. And the gameplay is just fantastic, especially in Burnout Paradise with its sandbox layout and stunts available.

The final game seems to be the obvious choice with its concept and police-like equipment, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

I wish I liked this game more. I first started playing it back in 2013 when playing with friends at a local gaming lounge (before it closed down). It was a lot of fun both multiplayer and single player, with the Police campaign going on giving you equipment to help pursue and capture criminals as you race along, which could be put into my game, but with different sets of difficulty, maybe. But of a shame you're forced to make an EA account to play it.

So hopefully playing some of these games on the side while working on the project. And if you haven't played these games yourself, I'd suggest giving them a go.

Yes, I’m alive, but have been overburdened by my own mental health problems. But enough about that.

As per my previous post regarding this tweet, I am interested to get my arse back into the Game Development game, and I think this month thing might just be the thing to get me going.

While I am working on my other projects like The Bloody Reaper, I feel I need to make a more simple game that really shouldn’t bother me if I fail at it or not. Get my feet wet in the paddling pool before taking on the deep end of the pool with weights, as it were.

Thankfully, while at Insomnia 63, I came across this arcade machine called Chase H.Q. 2 that already got me thinking for a short and simple car chasing game to make for the PC (And if I’m feeling ballsy, Mobile) with the elements from my already building world of my other game projects.

So if I complete it, I’m good. If not, at least I’ve got something to add to my portfolio. Either way, it’s a win-win situation.

Day 1 has already started with a document, a rough schedule of things to do, and the commencement of concept art.
