Photograph of a cross section of a giant coastal redwood tree with growth rings labeled with important moments in history, including the founding of Oxford University in 1096 and Baby Gruenwald’s discovery by Vikings in 1000.
Though most cultures around the world have stories explaining Baby Gruenwald’s first appearance upon the earth, few share any of the same details.
For instance, the ancient Incas believed the iconic baby was born inside a churro, while the Vikings of Scandinavia said he was found inside a wheel of cheese (probably a pungent and crusty Gouda).
